Can't forget them! =) The best of that era would be Black Flag, Misfits, Social D, and Bad Religion.

Poison Idea
(earlier) The Offspring
Sex Pistols
The Clash
The Embryonic Adults
Dead Kennedys

I'd like to say Discharge for credibility reasons, but I really don't like them. Conflict have a two or three godlike songs but a lot of shite. Same with Fugazi and Minor Threat. The Offspring S/T is close to perfection, to me... Such a shame they released "Hit That".

dead kennedys
melt-banana (arguably)

I'm not sure what counts as punk and what doesn't. confused at Husker's inclusion of At the Drive-In; I loves 'em but I considered them to be indie rock..

*looks all puzzled like*

If the Ramones suck then it's like saying Black Sabbath suck-it doesn't matter if they suck-they created a new genre of music!
btw, I agree on Johnny Rotten's vocals and the Ramones do NOT suck!!!

sex pistols are just part of the punk history because of their behaviour, not their music

it's so sad :?
