I really hope they pull this one off. It's going to be hard since DeGarmo was a major part of the first Mindcrime album..Helloween did a great job with Keeper The Legacy only time will tell if Queensryche will bring back the magic that was OM or will this just be nothing but hype.
And I also hope that Geoff Tate returns to his great vocal range that he had up to Empire.I want the Geoff Tate of old not the crappy singing he's done so far with Queensryche.
Well, DeGarmo was basically the sole contributor to Hear In The Now Frontier so I think DeGarmo is a non-issue here. Scott Rockenfeld and Michael Wilton both have side-projects (
SLAVE TO THE SYSTEM and
SOULBENDER) that are heavier for the most part than recent QR material, Soulbender being the better of the two. Slave To The System is more bluesy rockish, I guess, but when it rocks it seems to rock harder than recent QR. So anyway, the ability is there still.
I think the biggest obstacle here is Geoff Tate. Did you hear his solo album? I have hope, though, especially after hearing the live tracks from the new album. Have you heard them? "I'm American" sounds like a faster song like "The Needle Lies," they haven't done anything like that for a long time. "Hostage," on the other hand, sounds like some of the more recent material.
