Bluesy rocking band featuring the entire first Rainbow line-up (except for the guitar, of course ! :D )... So basically the guys that got fired (except the singer) for not being good enough by Mr Blackmore's standards (he was right on this one...)

I think it's good, not great, just because Dio has a great voice and the compositions are quite catchy (if not mind blowing)...

"nice" artwork btw...

so HIT or MISS ?

for me it's a hit but not a big one...

(there you go Phrywolf ! :D )

I have to go with hit. I probably would have liked them more five years ago when I was in my classic rock stage. I believe I have said this before.

I just lost my taste for older bands, but still makes for a good listen at bars.

More or less a hit. Its not exactly my style, but Dio is always worth listening to and its inoffensive enough.

Note on their musical skills - I would say Mickey Lee Soule knew his way around his keyboard, but of course he's no Tony Carey.

Well, Dio does mean God in Itlaian, so that just makes it even more lame.

Since you've fairly diverse tastes, I can see you liking them (depending of course on your opinion of bluesy southern rock).

I'll go Hit. I don't think they are great, but it's passable. I prefer Rainbow by a mile though. But, you really can't go wrong with Dio. And, as NESS stated, it's good to throw on the jukebox down at the local sit and sot, even if it's just to keep that one douche from playing that goddamned OUTKAST song(pick one, they're all terrible) for the 10th time that night!

Personally, I havent heard anything (going to change that soon though) but I will say hit just because Rainbow is awesome.

Been a while since I listened to it.. but yeah I thought it was all right. I think I liked 'Trying to Burn the Sun' the best, esp. 'Shotgun Boogie'.
