Which is funny because commercially it's been their most successful. :D

Well I can't speak for everyone but no wonder it's the most successful since it's their best

I can't pick a best. Hehehe. Each one has its own personality and sound, it all depends on my mood. I will say, though, that I when I first got their third demo back in 1997...holy shit did I play that tape 24/7! The production on that demo was so sick! Three songs like I'd never heard before, Know, War? and Peephole. Great, great stuff. The band blew me away with that tape. Maybe that's my favorite?

Yeah, only about a week early. It's awesome! Much easier to get into now that we know what to expect with Daron's bigger role with the vocals. The dynamics here are excellent. The band has done it again! There are some killer, killer songs here!!

"Vicinity Of Obscenity" may be the weirdest song they've ever recorded. It's wacky! There's also a LOT of 80's influence, not rock though, like weird, obscure 80's pop. "Stealing Society" and "She's Like Heroin" are probably the two most notable songs like this, and Daron's verse in "Kill Rock N Roll" is more of that style. Very different.

I heard a System song I'd never heard before the other night, in a pub. It was possibly the worst song I've ever heard.

Something about "choking chicks and sodomy" all sang in the most horrendous Bowling For Soup style you can imagine.

Wait, don't tell me - they were being "ironic," right? That's what System are doing when they put pop bullshit in their music, right?

Anyone who listens to Bowling For Soup gets no sympathy from me. And the pop "bullshit" works well, in my opinion, a lot better than some bands we could name that have gone more mainstream and become even shittier than they were before (as in, CoB, AE, etc).

Who said anything about listening to Bowling For Soup?

What I meant was the chrous sounded like a pop punk song, and a particularly bad one at that.

I repeat myself : if you listen to pop punk, I have no sympathy for you. And that's surely a matter of opinion.

Note the fact that he called Bowling For Soup 'horrendous.'

Don't let your System fanboyism blind your eyes, Zadster.

Errr....ok. I don't listen to pop punk. I didn't say (or even imply) that I did. I said I heard a song with a pop punk chorus when I was in a bar and it made me die a little inside.

Who said i was a fanboy? It took me ages to get into Mezmerize's tracks, as you can see from my initial posts here. All I'm saying is, if it took me this long and I liked their old stuff, it'll take forever for someone that didn't like their old stuff (Rad.).

If that's what you were saying, you did a pretty poor job of it.

I said the pop-punk elements are a matter of opinion. I don't think they sound like pop-punk at all.

Well, I'm not much of a fan of that song for the simple fact that those stupid lyrics are repeated over and over again. And the song is actual being literal, not ironic. It's about TV and censorship, just told by Daron, who's a fucking weirdo. Everything about the song is great, except the lyrics you quoted. As for it being "pop," don't kid yourself! There is nothing "pop" about that song! It's popular because of the "controversial" lyrics. That's all. Different lyrics, more P.C., and that song would never be heard on radio.

Either way, it does NOT sound like a pop punk song.

The chorus most certainly does, to these ears at least.

I actually didn't mind the intro.
