For this week's "Hit or Miss" poll, I thought I'd bring up my favorite Megadeth album, Youthanasia, and see how many people (dis)agree with me.

Is it just me, or did we already do this one?

In any case, this album is definitely a hit for me. Nicely executed power metal; certainly better than Countdown to Extinction.

Countdown to Extinction is totally awesome... Youthanasia is pretty much average. IMO anyway :)

Bleh.. Fair enough, and to each his own. I do like Countdown to Extinction, but, IMHOOO, there is only one song that truly rules on there, that being Ashes in Your Mouth. I believe Youthanasia fixes said problem by kicking ass.

Yeah, I agree with this. Countdown is fiendishly over-rated.

I do miss the old stuff, but this is Megadeth's best non-Thrash album.

I also liked this one much more than "CTE". I think it has a nice flow to the songs and good tone throughout. A lot of it is more mid-paced, but I like that well enough here. And I can't fail to mention the solo in "Killing Road". :D

I like this - one of the problems I have with Countdown is that it does not seem to flow smoothly between the songs. I don't really think any song on the album is bad per se, (although I for some reason used to hate hate hate Sweating Bullets) but they often just don't sit cpmfortably with each other. I rarely get through the entire album in one sitting.

Not as good as countdown to extinction, but still good. Hit.

Strange... Actually this is one of a very small number of albums that I can just leave on repeat for hours on end, and still be enjoying it. (CTE I am referring to). The solos on it are absolutely perfect- honestly some of the best guitar playing I've ever heard. The songs seem to strike a perfect balance between each being distinctive, and maintaining a constant recogniseable theme.

Youthanasia has some great songs, and some very cheesy but still likeable ones (a tout le monde!).

A HIT like Ike on Tina Turner! This is my favorite Megadeth album! It's killer. "Addicted To Chaos" is probably my favorite Megadeth song of all time!

I love Train of Consequences but I never got around to getting ahold of the album for some reason.

Aside from "A Tout Le Monde" the entire album kicks ass! That song just kind of irks me sometimes. "Elysian Fields" and "Blood Of Heroes" are two more of Megadeth's best songs ever.
