OK, so I drove into Boston a little while ago. The $2 section had some great shit tonight. I picked up the following:

Supseria - Unlimited
Circus Maximus - The 1st Chapter
Pink Cream 69 - Thunderdome
Redemption - The Fullness Of Time
Rival - State Of Mind

The Redemption CD kicks ass, I had this already downloaded. It's better than the first, and that was an awesome CD! I haven't listened to Susperia yet, but wrong forum anyway.

On the way home I listened to Circus Maximus and it seems excellent. Very progressive power metal! I'll be listening to this one for a while!

The Pink Cream 69 is excellent, I was really enjoying it until I got to the "My Sharona" cover. WTF? Terrible. Are the rest of their CDs like this? I thought I read that this CD isn't that good for them. It sounds great to me!

The Rival CD seems a bit weak, not much here really, but I've only listened briefly to the songs.

So anyway, what are your thoughts on these bands? Aside from Redemption and a few Susperia songs I'd not heard any of them until today.

Carnifex, you should definitely visit Nuggets if you're ever in Boston, it's in Kenmore Square. Great fucking used shop! The best in Boston.

Circus Maximus is one of my better buys for the year. Great band!!

I made a thread for PC69 in the Hard Rock AOR Forum. Also an awesome band.

Wait, 2 BUCKS?!!

Wow, I should just fly to Boston and buy them out. I'd probably save more.

Yeah, Nuggets in Kenmore Square in Boston is amazing! They have a big $2 section, but I get a lot of metal CDs there for between $4-$6 all the time. Some days they have nothing worth a damn, but other times they have some killer CDs. They have a lot of vinyl, the owners listen to a lot of old 50's and 60's rock, so a lot of the new stuff they don't know if it will sell, so they put it in the $2 section. It's great.

I've been going there for over 10 years now. Out of the 4,500 CDs I have, I'd say close to half have come from that store. It's awesome!

This sounded as classic heavy metal but the production was awful so i may have passed judgement on it a bit quick. Some of the songs were good though, short and simple with a decent vocalist. For an album that is 35min long at least i can't get bored of it just after 2 listens. The track i payed most attention to was Insane.

OK, well I'm just finishing listening to it again right now. It's on "Hell Train" as we speak and I'm really liking this song, I also liked "Reach" and "Brink" a lot. It's not a bad album at all, the production, as you said, is not great, but it sort of suits the album well. The vocalist is not that great, very gritty, and the dirty production sort of accentuates that.

Listening to this CD on a shitty stereo, or something like cheap PC speakers would suck, though.

Definitely worth the $2, I think this one will grow on me.

Wow! That's insane! My habit forced me to find ways to find cheap CDs. I'm a collector so I'm anal in the fact that I want the whole CD, I don't like CDRs so I can't download and be happy. I can download and be content, but if I really like the album, I have to buy it. I usually never pay more than $6 for a CD.

Of course, I'd probably download a lot more if I had to pay $15 per CD! YIKES! I've been trying to create a master music list in excel for a while now, if anyone overseas and whatnot has Soulseek my name on it is Eyesore. I have a shared folder called Music Collection and the spreadsheet is in there. If any of you want to look at it, send me a PM with your Soulseek name and anything that isn't tape or vinyl I will upload for you. I only share with people on my buddy list, so you'll have to let me know to add your first.

CDs in Australia is very expensive. Metal cds in stores, especially imported ones cost in average costs about 30 AUD here. Even 2nd hand cds at 2nd hand bins/stores cost 15 AUD average.

Thankfully here we have a few good underground distros, that cds prices with shipping cost from 10 - 15 AUD.

mate, just think yourself lucky that you live in Brisbane where there are distro's. We have to rely on expensive Sanity who pummel us in Coffs Harbour with RoadRunner stuff all the time

The underground distros im talking about are mostly based in NSW, Brisbane is pretty dead metalwise. Many bands even skip Brisbane in their Australian tours. Cant believe Toxic Holocaust missed out on Brisbane..........

Just incase you are actually interested, i'll just pass you the links to the distros.

You dont need a credit card to pay, as they also accept direct bank debits.

thanks otakon, you've saved me serious bucks and potentially wasted money on roadrunner. However, those links are more for death/ black metal, and i was looking for some good thrash cd's. I really want anything by Emperor though.

The goatowarex/unkara link i gave you has almost all the Emperor and Mayhem releases. There is good thrash and heavy metal to be found, as long as you know what bands to pick out, check out Sabbat, Nocturnal, Terror Squad, Barbatos, Abigail, Maze Of Torment, Metalucifer etc.

If I could find anything in a used bin, I would, but the used bins here in TX seem to be nothing but crap no one wants. When I do find the good stuff in a local store, it's always new.

No? I still haven't listened to it. My friend loves them, so I'm hoping they're good.
