well, i was a big fan of Anthrax in the eighties... got very disappointed with Persistence of Time, never liked 'em with Bush singing untill the last studio album...

so this is old stuff not really reworked but rawly rocked in the studio... Bush does the trick pretty well except that i'm missing Belladona's picks...

all in all, a very much sympathetic album... maybe a good chance for youngsters to get in touch with classic Anthrax material from the 80's...

I'll give it a goog 70

this is definitely a true gift for the fans and not just another best-of album nobody cares about...
I wish bands like Iron Maiden had the guts to do such a great work coz it's worth your pennies

btw, i forgot to mention the very good production, the nice energy the musicans are putting into this effort... however, i wished they changed the songs a bit more just to fit John Bush's voice better... but it's good, no doubt about it !

Anthrax was the first metal band I got in to. Mind you, it was when John Bush first joined the band but I became familiar with the Belladonna/Turbin era first. A lot of these songs are among my favorites from Anthrax and I was quite pleased to find out they were re-recorded with Bush on vocals. I had originally assumed this was just a greatest hits collection. Much like you, Jeff, I gave up on the band after Sound Of White Noise even though I like Bush as a vocalist.

Most of the songs sound awesome. Gung-Ho, Indians, Belly Of The Beast... all great. But his vocals sound really bad on a couple of tracks but for the most part he handles them well considering they were originally done by a completely different type of vocalist. The production of the guitars and drums finally giveS some of these poorly produced (by todays standards) classics the feeling and power they deserve, and the songs are better for it.

Definitely recommended to Anthrax fans.

Anthrax with Neil Turbin kicked my fucking ass. Joey Belladona is a pussy and he sings like one. Thus Fistful of Metal is the only ANthrax album I would give an excellent review for. The only other good ones are the Armed and Dangerous EP and the first Belladona album...even though he sings like a girl.

I'm actually more a fan of John Bush-era Anthrax than I am with their Belladonna albums (though that could be partially because my first 'thrax record was We've Come For You All!). I'm glad to see them release this disk because I always thought Bush was a much better vocalist than Belladonna.

BTW, if you want "bad production," listen to Sound of White Noise. That album sounds almost like it was played back through a telephone (yes, I know that was probably intentional)!

I agree about John Bush being a better voice for Armored Saint than Anthrax... though, "we've come for you all" surprised me with real ass kicking songs and on this album Bush sounds great !

& about Turbin, sorry but, imho, Belladona was and still is the best vocalist Anthrax ever had !

Thats fine, its your opinion and you're entitled to it. I like Neil Turbin better because he is fucking out of control. Belladona was fine for Armed and Dangerous and the like.....but man oh man does Neil Turbin kill on Fistful of Metal. He is one of the most outrageous singers ever along side John Cyriis of Agent Steel, Midnight from Crimson Glory, and Tim Baker from Cirith Ungol. The guy from Lost Horizon is pretty fucking rediculous too, but he's not metal thrashing mad like Mr. Turbin. Sean killian kills too. But on the average Cyriis and Turbin kill more posers per capita than others.

You support Emo...thus you are a fag and nothing you say will ever be of importance to me. A Metal head that goes by the name of The Immortal Emokid. You've got to be KIDding me. You also just told me that Cirith Ungol and Hirax suck....so that leads me to believe that if you ever came to a show with me.....all of my friends would beat the shit out of you. Now I know violence is not the answer and is pretty immature of me....but then again you're a poser and know nothing about metal. Oh yeah I also like Cryptic Slaughter and Autopsy. Do they suck too?
