edit: it's a sad day when I realise that I've come to find this rather tame.. going to grab a Can compilation album and see how easy it is to digest some more music that I thought was hardly musical at all..

Soulfly- Prophecy

Not bad at all IMO, better than III, but the damn tribal thing they do annoys me. If they stopped trying to be the experimental radio-friendly Sepultura Jnr. and really used their talents they could be a good thrash band.

Slipknot - IOWA

yes yes i KNOW it's Slipknot and all, but this is a decent album in my opinion, if a little repetitive. But you can't hate a song like People=Shit or Heretics Anthem, they are fucking awesome songs. In some parts of the album the lyrics are full of self-pity, but there are some good lyrics on this album, even though they sound simple and aggro. If they added some guitar licks and solo's to these songs they would be absolutely killer! I guess this doesn't stand out in today's scene of full-album-of-aggro-metalcore bands, but I really enjoy this record, and the 15 minute song is quite different.

the fantomas split with melt banana has leaked. that's going to be one noisy album.

edit: found it, it's like three minutes long. they're glorious minutes, though.

Eh, I didn't like IOWA. And Vol. 3 has not stood the test of time for me. It sounds like shit now, I really can't stand it anymore. Now I feel stupid over putting it on my 2004 list, but I'm sure Jay feels the same regret about the CoF album that he now doesn't like as much.

Rotten Sound - Exit

Holy SHIT! This beats the crap out of Shift, which I finally have a copy of and can, as a result, pronounce with authority that it is NOT as good as Helvete or Human 2.0. Still very good... but Exit is better. And so is/was Helvete.

Does anyone know how good the new Leng Tch'e album is? I'm in a grind-oriented mood.

Yes, I agree. They were one of the only good Nu-Metal bands if only for their surprising brutality and agression. It's not too hard to see that they have some Death Metal influences (I'm just calling them influences, not actual Death Metal). Iowa was a great album for about 7 songs (I can't really remember how many, but "Left Behind" was the last great song for awhile), then a whole lot of filler, then the song "Iowa", which is fun to listen to.

I say that they were one of the only good Nu-Metal bands becuase their new album is pure shitty-shit shit. It's as if they said "Hey, why don't we take everything promising from our music and replace it with some Radio Rock bullshit?". Even their masks, albeit blatant gimmicks, were cool. Now they look like crap.

Iowa has some fucking bombshells for songs. I'm gonna go listen to it again.

No, but check Happy Face out. Very groovy French grindcore, just under 30 mins long, great stuff.

French?

Eww.

But I'll give it a try. Any albums in particular, or should I close my eyes, spin around, and point to a title?

As far as I know, they have only one album out, called 'Le Tigre'.
There's an Mp3 here: http://anticulture.co.uk/artistpage.php ... ppy%20Face

NP - Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich - "Krupa & Rich"

:D

Those who are interested in jazz / drumming as mentioned in the other thread should definately check this one out.

Coheed and Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine Blade

Good album, though I feel that the later stuff will be better.
