You're most welcome ;)

I loved this review even more than the Alcest one! I agree with everything!

I rarely come across melodeath I like, but this is an exception, maybe it's because of the thrashing parts. As you stated, the melodies and riffs contain some sort of sadness, which I found unique for this band and much stronger present than on any Dark Tranquillity album. All of the music is awesome, as it was on their previous album, this one is also recommended to anyone, some of the tracks on that one even contain more sadness. By the way, when you mentioned the South-Eastern influence on the Euphoria track, didn't you mean Mediteratian? It sounds much more Spannish or Mexican to me than Eastern.

It is just that the lead guitar sounded like a sitar to me, and I always associate that instrument with Middle East, Lebanon specifically, which is also located on the Mediterranean, which makes us both technically correct.
Great band, no question, and I will try to get that interview (when/if I get a time, very busy at work and with the family lately).

Hmm, DT is always projecting so much emotion to me, and that is why it is my fav band. It could be sad one moment and shift into despair another second, or completely wash itself of sadness the next. Another "sad" melodeath band I like is Lothlorien. But they only issued one album and disbanded. Melodeath I don't like at all is where Soilwork seems to be going, and a few moments of that style on Portals to Uphobia is what caused to drop my score out of the 90s. But as I said above, great band, I'd strongly recommend it to people. Where are they from? Utrecht?

A note on the Detonation not mentioning DT influence:

There is a VERY DISTINCT, ripoff-like similarity between Detonation's Forever Buried Pain chorus (Off Epic Defiance) and DT's "EMPTY...FRAGILE...WEAK!" chorus. Maybe they heard this, and lost faith in former heroes of theirs? Because Detonation wrote their song first.

they're ok but i'd rather listen to DT because they're basically better in every way... (the only big difference i notice is that Detonation make their guitar harmonies a lot louder and overly obvious ala In Flames)

there is a VERY DISTINCT, ripoff-like similarity between Detonation's entire sound (on all their albums) and DT's sound.

He is saying that DT ripped off Detonation.

Detonation is NOT a DT ripoff, they might has some in common but they don't really sound allike.

Nah, Detonation sound nothing like Darkthrone.

Kidding, I know who DT are.

Detonation sound nothing like Dream Theater either.

I hear similarities in those two parts but I don't think they were ripped off (Forever Buried In Pain owns Lost To Apathy by the way).

I don't hear anything special with Detonation. Its good, but it just sounds like typical Melodeath. 74/100 after my first listen.

OK. I've finally heard this album (thanks, Mike!!) and I must say, it really does sound like early Dark Tranquillity. By that I mean that the style is the same, they don't actually sound like DT. I don't think you could fool a DT fan into thinking this is some new/unheard DT album. Still, stylistically this is very similar! Melodic death metal that is actually melodic with awesome harmonized leads.

I've listened to this a few times today and it's excellent!
