Haha, really? 8) Sadly you're not on my immediate list of neighbours.. the guy who comes first likes Ulver, 70s prog and technical death metal. Sounds familiar, but there's absolutely no doom reflected in his list..

np: King Crimson - Red

I know this one isn't exactly obscure, but how come so few people have heard it? Five tracks, three of which are undoubtedly classic, one great bluesy schizophrenic song and an avant/improv piece that leads into their all-time best song?

Do people just avoid this because Kurt Cobain liked it too? :P

I saw that the other day, but avoided it because I'm a kvlt fool who likes buying things in order. Eventually I 'll snap, if I haven't found 'In The Court Of...' by then.

Yeah.. you don't lose much by starting in the middle of King Crimson though, they have four different eras with only Robert Fripp himself as the linking factor..

"..cigarettes, ice cream, figurings of the Virgin Mary.."

Going to start a King Crimson thread 8)

ELP - Tarkus

Side two of this disc has to be a joke. Every track's filler, almost as bad as bloody porcupine tree..

Just finished King Crimson - Red

Lizardtail, I'm with you on this one. Probably the first rock CD I ever purchased, it has managed to stay in the rotation through the years. Fantastic musicianship. To this day, Red does not sound dated, and I doubt it ever will.

Up next, Van Halen - s/t

Sammy Hagar can go sit on a pool cue.

Yep. Might just be their finest hour. So far. I still have faith in them, haha.

Flower Kings - Stardust We Are

I'm increasingly of the opinion that these guys are ALMOST breaking away from neo-prog and becoming trve worthy kvlt grim prog band in their own right. but it all still seems too contrived and rehearsed.

bloody amazing though

Flower Kings rule. I remember when I first heard "World of Adventures." That song is just so damn relaxing and fun to listen to.

Then I got "The Rainmaker" and that CD blew me away.

Although the name of this band is indeed "gay" they still fucking rock.
