Prior to this album, their lyrics were quite thoughtful and all the songs had a touch of ironic humour. They fucked up this latest one up though.

Good nu-metal bands right now would be this shortlist: Amen, one Deftones CD and latter day Sepultura. ta dah.

Your posts confuse me

I have no idea. I'm still trying to work out how a guy with such a shocking voice who clearly cant sing, gets a gig in a band, and in some small areas of the world, this band is somewhat popular. I'm no fan of Korn nor Slipknot either, but it rather them over SOAD anyday.

SOAD sucks, but there is one thing they are not, and that is boring. Korn and Slipknot are. I hate the singer's voice, but he is good at what he does. For as horrible as their music is, they have integrity, which is what most of the nu metal scene lacks.

The voice is definately an acquired taste, but look at all the great bands with weird voices: Dead Kennedys and Faith No More are two that come to mind immediately. If you can get into it, it's awesome.

Korn and shitnot are indeed boring, and a lot more gay than SOAD (and that's the first time I've ever called anything gay on this site (or anywhere else!) :shock: ).

Really come to love this album. I don't like that Daron sings more, I prefer Serj, but the songs are definate growers. Funny old world.

Still not sure where I'd put STA or Hypnotize. Need to listen to them both lots more.

Steal This Album is pretty good. Listened to this all the time when it came out, still seems to hold up pretty well.

Steal This Album is my least favourite. The first half of it is really good but there's only one or two songs I really like in the second half.

SOAD may not be horrible, but if you're a metalhead why would you ever choose them over a band like Carcass?
