Great Technical Death Metal (By the way people, just because some Death Metal bands are brutal doesn't mean they're technical  ) :

Acid Death
Aghora
Amoral
Anata
Arsis
Atheist
Augury
Capharnaum
Carcariass
Cephalectomy
Coprofago
Cynic
Divine Empire
Domination Through Impurity
Gorguts
Hieronymus Bosch
Illogicist
Kronos
Luciferion
Lykathea Aflame
Martyr
MIthras
Mutant
Necrophagist
Necrost
Neglected Fields
Neuraxis
Nocturnus
Pavor
Pestilence
Psycroptic

Sleep Terror rules. Hardly death metal.... but most definitely technical.

They've got all of what makes Technical Death Metal, Death metal... Aside from the vocals. So how aren't they death metal? Vocals are not the main feature that separates a band from a genre.

They don't have the atmosphere. It doesn't feel like death metal. And vocals do account for something.

Who really cares though? They're awesome.

I would've mentioned Immolation, but they are already reviewed on this site. Of the bands that are not reviewed on this site, check out Autopsy's Mental Funeral. Brilliant stuff !

Autopsy's Mental Funeral is one of the best DM records ever, but it's not exactly technical death metal.

Capharnaum? I couldn't get into them because of Matt Heavee's shitty hardcore vocals.

Hmm. But there must be bands of equal ability without said vocalists...

I notice you included Mithras in your list. I picked up 'Forever Advancing....Legions' the other day. Truly awesome stuff, assuming you have it and didn't just search metal-archives for bands...?

Uh, yeah, I have it. metal-Archives doesn't even list them as technical death metal.

The Chasm is the number 1 Technical Death Metal band today, if you ask me.

Dago, check out the album "Deathcult for Eternity - The Triumph".. it might not be rigidly technical but its song structure is far from normal..

They've always had a technical side. And they're far superior to alot of the tech death scene, IMO, so they belong here just as much as anyone. Dago, any one of their albums you can find in the store is worth owning. My personal favorite is Procession to the Infraworld.
