Great news, this album can't come out soon enough. BTBAM is one of the few truly original bands working today.

Now now... This band takes a not-especially-original concept, but executes it in a good way, IMO. I don't think they're quite worthy to be in Jadens sig, though. :P

I don't see what's particularly amazing about this band, solid though they are. Additionally, I don't see why they're always mentioned in relation to Cephalic Carnage.. am I missing something about their sound?

Alaska is an amazing album, every song is different, and the cd can satisfy any mood that your in. Ive had this cd for a week now, and All Bodies is my favorite song. Im gonna buy it when it comes out, i cant stand the fact that i downloaded it 3 weeks before it came out.

I wouldn't say "this band". BTBAM switches their style between albums so drastically, that you really need to judge the albums instead.

Still, it seems to be a love it or hate it band.

ive been listening to it today (about 3 times through). I am impressed. The instrumentals on track 4 are excellent. As a drumming whore, I enjoyed the classic thrash/hardcore elements of the first few tracks which blends into a Jason Bittner-ish technical power drum-style later on. none of the vocals "did it" for me and i felt like id need a margarreta to enjoy the last track. i probably will not recommend the album, but i will check out their older work.

solid instrumentaion .. but still poor songwriting, tho I admit to not having heard the latest. Just the first two. Almost like a progressive metalcore thing, with powermetal and progmetal playing abilities. I might check it out, but other than a few moments the songs lacked the "grab" or "catchy" factors, juts pure showy for "showys" sakes. I could be wrong tho?
i give them credit for their playing at such a young age, but I dont "feel it" when I listen to them as complete songs, hopefully these writers will give the album a full and in depth review

I agree the last wizard has horrible songwriting as well. No argument from here. To me they are the dream theater of metal core, and I think Dream Theater lacks quality songwriting as well. It could be "my personality" can cannot handle the "timing" structures. I think both are talented in the respected genres and still both do not right good songs, but like i said I have not heard the latest only the first two albums. I am having trouble getting soudclips to load.
Any links?

why don't you get it by torrent or DC++ ?

I had no problem finding it there (DC)... it's time to join the modern era EM30 !!!

I've heard one song, and I think it's totally awesome. I've even heard some Dream Theater influence in there. I'm gonna pick this one up when I have the chance.

It's not so much the timing structures and changes that bug me about BTBAM so much as the fact that the individual sections don't seem to slot together well, so rather than getting a cohesive song out of all the ideas you just get what sounds like an aural brainstorm. Same with SoaD, with Mastodon, same with Pantera a while back, arguably the same with most other mathcore bands or any band trying to get mainstream by being technical.. the integrity of the song is sacrificed for spontanaeity which is lost when you're used to the song.

impressive way of describing it lizardtail, but that is it, and why I cannot get into them. I want tunes, either catchy or build-up style, with appropriate and "fitting" changes, not listening sessions or pieces filling within a song. I guess that is why i will never fully appreciate them. I will still try and give the entire album a spin before becoming critical. The playing abilities show some promise.
Well said lizardtail.......you helped my brain :)

This record is just growing on me each time I listen to it.
Easily one of 2005 best albums.
