The metal scene is suprizingly good in my area. There are some good bands that play a lot and scare off the posers. Lets see

There's my band Harbinger
-Sauron
-Red Channel
-Iron Fist
- Pirate Law
-Summon
-Nocturnal Fear
-Flesh Gallery

There's a shit load of crappy bands but we pay them no heed.

Sauron and Summon are killer. I saw them at the Minneapolis Mayhem fest.

I live in Massachusetts...which means the "metal" scene is filled with greasy men in girls size 2 pencil cut jeans, tight "vintage" shirts they bought at hot topic, and trucker hats. I die a little inside every show I go to. We've got some good metal bands here, my husbands band, The Accursed kills, I'm in a death/thrash band myself, for the most part though...Mass sucks out loud.

My local area has none that I'm aware of, although I live in quite a Jewish community. Have workmen in at the moment, one of them commented on how ''dark'' my music was. I laughed in his face (what's the world coming to when fucking BUILDERS start telling you off for your music tastes?), it's much more Megadeth/Maiden than Napalm Death/Prostitute Disfigurement, if you see what I mean.

Tokyo is fuckin huge and I know there has got to be a metal scene somewhere here, but since I am surrounded by Southern Rap and pop -punk bullshit loving Americans I am forced to find it alone, so far luck has not been good and my Japanese sucks, but I know there has to be a good Power Metal scene here. Hell you can go to any Kareoke place and find Edguy, Harem Scream, Rhapsody and Maiden on the list among others. Just need more time.

Heres some bands from my area that I like:

Hartwig, thrash metal.

Mustain, thrash metal. They just quit but its definitly worth a listen.

Dod (In english: Death), not so serious black metal.

Go here to find out about my local scene.

EDIT: Apparently a band called Behemoth is coming here soon, everyone seems excited, I think some downloading is in order to decide if I should go.

I've seen Behemoth three times, they're unstoppable live. Wasn't big on their last album though, sounds like Nile instead of Behemoth. IMO anyway. So I missed their last show.

Indeed, really awesome!! And I agree with the Nile comparison... No one else did unfortunately... I still think Behemoth's Grom beats the shit out of their other releases.

What makes you say that?

I know that most (if not all) of my top "fav" bands are of the heavy/power persausion but in a live situation things change, I like the more extreme, it makes for a better time. I really wanted to go see Suffocation when they came but I missed it. Not to mention, I was only introduced to the world of metal in late 2001 - early 2002. So I'm still hearing things that surprise me. I am very open minded. I just remember years ago a friend of mine was obsessed with CoF and I thought it was terrible, so I had a bad 1st meeting with metal that is more extreme than what I like. But then I heard Norther and loved it and from there I have been seeking more death metal and I like things like: Norther, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, The Duskfall, Eucharist, Finntroll, Wintersun.

Sorry for the rant, but Im a growing metalhead and I am willing to give anything a chance and a 2nd chance if needed. Except CoF, they get no 2nd chance.

well im sure through one of your friends you have heard Canibal corpse,

Behemoth's new sound is alot like that, minus the singing about gore and plus good riffs.

That actually toured with them this last year as i recall.

one way to also help you decide if you want to go or not, would be to go to windows media player and search for behemoth. it should bring up a link to a video at www.nrk.com (i htink thats the address) They have a 70 minute concert video up you can watch and stream it.
