for me it's a 90

I have no problem with production (cristal clear indeed), I love the arrangements and except for 2/3 songs (Beast & the Harlot, Burn it Down & Seize the Day which tires me now) I love all the songs ! :D

I would have scored their previous works around 60/100, that tells you how much I think they improved while turning to a more classic heavy style...

oh, and yes, I do agree with the My Chemical Romance influence but since I really enjoy them too...

imo, every heavy/power metal lover should at least try this album, it's just GREAT ! 8)

Eh, I have an 'originality' or at least an 'innovation' fetish, so it's harder for me to enjoy stuff of this sort. It was still pretty damn good, after all.

Yeah, but I really hate My Chemical Romance, so I had to listen to that song a lot before I enjoyed it. Their video for I'm Not Okay is still pretty funny, though.

i actualy like the last of the cd because its very unstructured. They are long songs, and not the typical alternative stuff that could ever be played on the radio

Decent enough album with it's ups and downs.Definitely worth checking out.Even if you do not like the entire album, there are a few songs that you will most certainly enjoy. So it's 73 from me.

This Album Defintly is better then a 70 , i would score it a 90/100 its that damn good and everythign you mentioned aboutt the first 6 sogns are amazing, but what i dotn get it, the last liek 4 or 5 sogns have to be the ebst on the album , there the most less repetative and most epic and long, and they are unique and amazing, if your interested in this album , every goddamn sec of thsi album is genius, my fav sogns are the ones he didnt mention in thsi review, avenged sevenfodl are the most overlooked band ever by the way they look, even there last album is amazing- im glad thsi album fianlyl got reviewd cuz it aitn metalcore

The review make's me wonder...I'm a big heavy/power fan but the music I've heard from My Chemical Romance ranged from ok to total shit :?

Um, I said there was a little influence in one song.

Why would that spoil an album for you?

Well, I've heard from other people that there was quite a big MCR influence in this album, so I don't really know what to believe...but if there's only one song then I can live whit it :P

The vocalist kills this band, along with the hardcore feel. "Beast & the Harlot" is a good song, but I downloaded a few others and I could not get into any of them.

I think anybody coming from a more traditional metal viewpoint would be better off getting their previous album, Waking the Fallen. I thought it was a lot better mish-mash of all different types of metal than the newest one.

City of Evil is just sappier and more lite-metal than their previous album, IMHO. At the same time, I really don't see how they expected to pick up the Hot Topic type kids with this album either, since the songs are still rather long. I think a friend of mine hit the nail on the head when he said it was "too Queen" for him. The songs are long and melodramatic, and the singer gets annoying.
