Heard a track on the radio, can't say I'm very impressed. Anyone else heard it?

Some crappy rock show I found on the radio last night. It's local, so unless you're in Newcastle you won't get it. But I think I heard the tail end of this track on the radio one rock show (tues nights, 1am ( I only listen to it if something really exciting's on), so you never know.

More metalcore actually, they do some good stuff occasionally, like a Napalm Death session last week, and they were the show that Anaal Nathrakh did their session for, so it aint all bad.

God-damnit, I've been hoping that this would be a good album, and every response of any kind so far is negative.

Maybe my response is altered by having listened to the almighty Red Harvest, but I don't think so. The FF song I heard just sounded rubbish.

Heh heh heh, Red Harvest does kinda beat FF at their own game. Fear Factory has never, ever, ever written a song that comes within half a mile of Absolut Dunkel: Heit.

Wondering though, what was the name of the song you heard?

I've got this, I grabbed it off a torrent site shortly before it a sploded.

Still need to digest it. Based on my kneejerk reaction I'd say it wasn't very good, but my taste has never made a lick of sense.

Not trying to stir up the $#!T, but I never thought FF were any good to begin with. They just never did anything for me, and I was suprised to see them slowly become "elder statement" of metal. I guess that's what happens if you still haven't broken up and stayed broken up after 10+ years.

One thing though, I don't think the interviews are as good with Dino out of the band...

Heh, it doesn't matter to anyone that you don't like Fear Factory that much. In any event, I wouldn't care if they had broken up entirely after 1995.

They are good for getting used to industrial metal before you move onto serious industrial metal, like Red Harvest or Aborym.

Not a big Red Harvest fan either. I did like the one Aborym album I picked up. Also thought the Dodheimsgard 666... album was genius. To me, FF never pushed it as far towards the industrial/electro side as those groups. I heard the FF song in the "Saw" movie and thought it was pretty dreary mope-rock.

I guess my impression is kinda like what some of the other folks here said -- FF has gone too nu-metal. Maybe a little unfair to them considering they are probably one of the god-fathers of the nu-metal "scene".

They played a new song at Gigantour a few days ago. I liked it. Fear Factory puts on an awesome live show!

I just heard "540,000 Fahrenheit", and I must say that it totally blew away my expectations. Imagine "Slave Labor", only more matured like a fine wine, and you wouldn't be too far off.

I thought it was important enough to ressurect this old topic for... Don't kill me.

I only heard 'Point Of Impact', and that wasn't very impressive. But then again, I don't really like 'Archetype', so I doubt I'll like this new crap.

I have it.

It's really not that good. The riffs are generally boring, the experimental songs don't work well, and the covers suck.

There are maybe four decent songs on the whole CD, and only two of those would count as good.

If I review this, it'll get a 60 or less.
