i really hated LD 50, and when it came out i waseven in to all those bands.
there second album, the end of all things to come, or something liek that, i did enjoy.
on neither do i see this technical nature that is spoken of in description of math metal.

Im thinking the fans just wanted to give the band a sub genre to be hip.

This list adds another layer of confusion, because every name on it is already tied to another genre of music

Agreed. There are only a very few "true" Math Rock/Metal bands, most of them use Math as additional ingredience into their basic sound which could be everything from Post-Punk to Death Metal. Plus many bands have albums that as a whole are not Math Rock/Metal, but contain good examples in single songs. And, the definition of Math itself could for the most part fit to similar genres.
So the list is not an index of Math bands, but more a sort of "if you like Meshuggah and DEP, then you propably like also..." thing.

I dont really have an opinion on the whole Math Metal movement, sometimes it sounds amazing and other times its just noise, so i can def see why people love, and hate it, but even if you hate bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, you cant say that they dont have skill, because basicaly thats all math metal means...math metal aka skill

I heard Jaden's link a while back and think its pretty good, although the melodic section surpasses the heavy section by some way. In Sikth, I think this is vice-versa, no?

Anyhow, I'm off to try and hunt down some more BTBAM, cos this is still the only track I've heard of them.

Awesome. :)

The Silent Circus is really good. It's layed out similar to Sikth's album in the sense that the middle goes soft.

Between the Buried and me is actually a pretty cool band. If you don't like mathcore you will find nothing in them really, but if you do then they have a lot to offer.

Between the Buried and Me are an amazing band, i really enjoy there self titled disk. Silent Circus was good, only a few killer songs though, but a solid album. Personally i think Aesthetic off of Silent Circus has one of the best intros ive heard in a long time. There new cd Alaska is coming out in september if anyone is interested. You can check out the new track here http://www.purevolume.com/betweentheburiedandme Paul Waggoner is an amazing guitarist, im def gonna be picking this disc up.

Have anyone heard YTO?

You can download all of their songs legally. http://www.yto.no/music.html
Especially the new song is amazing. Hope they will be releasing a full length some day.
