Dingy and darkly taverns, remotely located motels and overused veins.

And it certainly does appear that the greatest riches are always ready at hand.

Soundtrack from the film which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival just a few short months after his death. Time and drug abuse had clearly had taken their toll on Baker, but his dulcet, velvety tone weathered quite well all things considered. Will have to track down the documentary and give it a watch.

As I'm aware he had a serious heroin addiction. In fact, I was thinking about just how long it has been since I have listened to Mr. Baker.

Finnish Neo-Folk in the manner in which only the fins are fully capable. It is only in these late night hours that this kind of deeply reflective music settles the perspectival fluidity of life, into fixity. The blooming confusion, which it otherwise is.

Time is ripe to return to the jazz canon and what better time than almost the start of the Summer season, which I may add, is the least of my favorite seasons. The time for grass-cutting, outside noise, bees, insects, heat, and those abysmal dead Summer days with no one to see and no where to go. But certainly a time for a break from the extremities of heavy music, is much needed, now, more than ever.

Many moons since I have last heard this recording or Mile Davis in general. His music does not sound the same and neither am I the same listener.

McCoy Tyner was an outstanding pianist and Elvin Jones a drummer of stunning skill.

Just under a year without classical music and it is time to reacquaint myself with some acquisitions from last year. A few discs from this recording.

Free and fusion jazz were never my preference, but I do enjoy this record quite a bit.

Yes, that's understandable. But Tyner played with a great deal of major jazz musicians, amongst which he enhanced and elevated their music, be it free-jazz or otherwise. Likewise, for Jones. Also, fusion has a great deal to offer to the jazz enthusiast, some of which are absolutely outstanding, some of which include Maestro Metheny's most known works. If memory serves me right, you were a great fan of Gerry Mulligan, and other works from the Cool jazz canon, which are now considered classic works, and others, which are evident from this page, namely, Mr. Baker. It is reasonable that free jazz is not to your liking. With me, I have always attempted my best to expand my taste, and to my pleasure, I have been usually successful. I understand that these things are certainly and entirely matters of choice and inclinations. Never a superior position to be found in the Arts.
