Indeed, indeed! Completely true. I will have to listen to it again tonight. Certainly a greater art to enjoy, rather than an attempt to "intelligently" criticize. Certainly not a service to the artist or to the listener. One wonders how much criticism is too extreme, and how much of it is too little, how much of it is accurate, and how much of it is far too general. If there is any advantage, and benefit we acquire, from "professional" reviews. Or if it is a service, or a disservice?

I will freely admit that I was in quite a horrible mood prior to listening to this recording due to some very unpleasant experience and that very obviously obscured my judgement. This is excellent. Priest all the way.

Edit: Immediately apprehended by the magnificent potency of this release. Certainly reflecting the explosiveness colourfulness of the cover art. This recording is pure fire and glory. Not one note wasted.

Second spin. Let's see how this goes.

Edit: Well, I will say that there is nothing inherently wrong with this recording. The rhythmic guitars, the lead guitars, the bass, the drums are very finely placed. The production is excellent. It is typical heavy/death/thrash/speed, with no real distinctions to be made. I will say, that generally, the Europeans do a much better job at the sort of genre combination, with much more infectious, and much more penetrating melodies. I will not exile this release, but, it is certainly not something I will listen to every other way.

More than a year after its release and certainly an outstanding Enslaved release and one that I am sure will be improved upon, and perfected, even further. The mysteries of the passage of time.

A less dense, but more sustaining recording than what was to follow. An excellently lucid production, and very finely-crafted melodies.

Mightily ravenous and extraordinarily pronounced in ideas.
