^^It's great that the album has caught your attention, so early on, as the recording seemed to me distant and abstract and that was because I was accustomed to a very different Ihsahn. But I gave it time, and attention, and it is now an all-time favourite, amongst any genre of music. The production on After is superior to anything which he had released prior to After.

And my affection for this album is increasing after each play.

In many regards, his vision is more progressive and dramatic than ever.

Enrich with modernism, rinse with the classics.

With the capacity to be at once emotive, and be tastefully heavy, while retaining a great sense melodicism, and sharpness, are a few primordial elementary characteristics making Mastodon's music, a balance of a few basic oppositions in music-making, a hard to come by idealism, which they aspire to, and successfully achieve with some fashion.

Much less heard recording, much more exploring.

A magnificent offering to these archaic pagan-tongues.
