My question is simply why would someone take the time to scan the power metal threads if he doesn't like 99% of them.
for that damn 1% man... I can't miss good power metal because I like it... saying 99% is mediocre works with any genre imo...

Look, i cant remember the name of the christian band, but my point is, TIE has a different musical/metal background than the majority of the rest of us. Nothing wrong with that.
I just think its weird for someone who prefers Nirvana :x over any power metal bands to be hanging around the Heavy, Prog, Power & True Metal Warriors forums, especially if he hates power metal....
I'm not having a go at ya, just curious....
ok, as a reminder :
I got into metal in 1978 listening to bands such as AC/DC, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Deep Puple, Trust (excellent French band) etc...
then I got into the NWOBH around 1981 discovering great bands such as Diamond Head, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Tygers of Pan Tang, Samson etc...
around 1983/84 I discovered the beginings of what will later be called thrash & speed metal (european name for power metal back then) with bands such as Running Wild, Helloween, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Megadeth etc...
from that time to 88/89 I was a huge metal fan though I kept listening to other musics too... but it was mostly metal and particulary thrash metal I liked then...
I got sick of that as thrash slowly died... american hair metal had its good bands but, overall, I found that scene to be too much of an excuse to be on MTV
so Grunge was a sweet relief as metal turned either very commercial or death/grind that I didn't enjoy much... around the same time I began listening to far more diverse genres leading me into Jazz, indie, hardcore, techno, pop, experimental etc...
still, metal has a very special place in my heart for it's the music of my childhood and I kept following the scene since I first got into it...
so, okay, my background is indeed different but just because I'm much older than everyone else here is...
