Track 5: In Domine Sathana

When you really sit down and think about Rotting Christ's Discography, unlike say Darkthrone/Mayhem/Immortal their mid career is actually really strong. Khronos to Aealo are all beautifully crafted melodic black metal with flirations with symphonic/folk/ and goth elements that have aged them beautifully.

A good day to one and all. Some excellent music being played by Steve the great. Starting my day with something on the traditional side and onto things heavier towards the evening. It is a beautiful day here and I hope it is a good day for everyone else.

When Genesis was released it was my constant companion, alongside with Khronos and also Theogonia, one brilliant release after another. There was really no end to Sakis' creative energies. What a magnificent guitarist and even greater arranger. His musical sensibilities are second to none. His musical vision extraordinary. I am still absolutely floored by Sanctus Diavolos, and I've heard it about 200 times or more, and that is a modest estimation. I've shook the man's hand. He had a tight grip and walked like a spartan.

Trade the beloved cacophony of yesteryear for a (gasp!) clean and almost conventional modern sound? No worries, kids. Immolation still crushes.

Only the mighty Enslaved have been able to match their dogged consistency over the years. If you haven't gave it a listen, check out Tolis' solo project Among the Fires of Hell. There's a lot of that same gothic magic that permeated Christ's sound during the Triarchy / Dead Poem era.

Triarchy and A Dead Poem are orgasmic. Have yet to hear Sakis' solo album (I could not find it on Amazon at the time). Seen Enslaved live playing to a miniscule sum of people. A real shame really, but they disseminated the place. I know your post was aimed towards Steve.

The finest of cuisines served on Opethian platters. I would never eat from them, but Ghost Reveries is one consummate recording. The production pristine. The performance world standard.

Stable, coherent, solid core.
