Melissa gets all the love, but Oath is the superior record.

It's that time of the year again. The Great Pumpkin is upon us.

My third or fourth play. Certainly excellent in terms of the quality of music played. This judgement is solely based on execution and the represented ideas, but I still do think that overall the music is a bit thin and for me personally it does not completely meet my musical palate. This is because it is a little too much reliant on minor notes and a little too sunny music-wise and temperamentally. If there was more contrast, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. However, I will keep listening to it to see if I can learn to like it more than I do now. I do have a great appreciation for the sheer complexity and sophistication of the music and that is the reason I will keep playing it, at least several times more.

Oh you are kind. I do think they deserve all attention in the world and I do very much like their brand of the progressive. The only other band that I can think who are similar which currently springs to mind is Canvas Solaris also from America, but they are purely instrumental. I do like Canvas a bit better. I also prefer Atheist over Cynic. Yet still, they must get their due, Cynic that is. Cynic is exceptionally unique, and I like their lyrical content a lot. I think it is very thought-provoking and so is their music, for that matter.

Husker, I see that you are giving your ear a real thumping with all the Marduk albums.

Marduk definitely has stood the test of time with me. I've seen them 3 times. One time I was the only person there besides a couple people way back in the bar area!
