My playlist consists of many newly-acquired recordings on repeat (which I have already posted) and some other older albums such as this:


My affection for all Voivod albums.

The doors to despair and anguish are just a few steps away. Dare enter.

Nice to see a couple classic from very different parts of the metal world showing up back to back like that.

Oh yes. I think the classics deserve as much playing time as modern and contemporary music. Good to see you sign in every few days or so, North.

Multidimensional and fantastical. I will replay this sometime either this evening, or tomorrow.

The production is a bit more distant with it being a bit puddled and muddied and not as sharply distinct as the debut. I think I would much rather have the debut's production than the sophomore's latter. Yet still, flawless release.

Ingenuity to a great degree materializes here without bells and whistles and without the presence of any other instruments than the magnificent and supremacy of exceptional axemanship. Layers and layers of it. Thriving bass and drums at the command of and the service to the others. Pristine production!

The richness and the abundance of soundscapes on this release, plus the wealth of guitar work, synths, ambiances, diverse drumming, layers upon layers of differently placed vocalizations, whispers, etc., and many assortments of recording and production techniques makes this release an orchestral work to such a magnitude that even after just about 20 times of hearing it, I still hear quite a few new details every new time I play it. A progressive odyssey.

The more Voivod, the better, is what I think.

I had only heard this, I believe just once at its release time. Re-listening now after sometime and I must say that this stuff is very brilliant. Vicious, proficient, virulent, groovy, bizarre, a rude-awakening of kinds.
