Just checked the Archives. Lengthy songs, it appears a very substantial recording. Thanks, Husker.

It's a good record if you're into Shining. They're not reinventing the wheel with their sound or anything, so it's more of the same if you're a fan of the band but it's a very solid release from them. I'm enjoying it. Nick Barker's drumming on it also is cool to hear.

Well, how often can we expect a band to reinvent the wheel? I was listening to Shining up to and including Redefining Darkness. I liked them and used to listened to them regularly. But quite honestly, their ideology was extreme and was not fitting to my mood, at the time, at least. But nowadays I listen to many different bands and it has been a very long since I have heard them, so I might just re-listen to them and see how I like them today. The album cover is very intriguing, I must say. And yes, I'm familiar with Nick Barker and like his work from Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth.



This is still an early favourite and much beloved recording. Still an invigorating and a recording so abundant and profuse with brilliant musical ideas. Timeless.

And so let the other advent begin. And so he would obey the lawless night of the liberator.

Ulcerate has become part of my permanent playlist. I have given descriptions and opinions about them, a few pages before, but I will also say that Ulcerate is a band that has in my opinion gained greater clarity of ideas and greater perfection of evolution making them a band to take very seriously. The development of their ideas through out a given song is outstanding, considering just how colossal and heavy their brand of death metal is. A truly progress and modern DM band. A band I very much look forward to hearing much from. I certainly hope this is the case.

The fervent conviction with which this album is composed is truly worthy of attention and appreciation. The production is excellent, the musicianship without any real criticism, and the quality of music is forcefully imposed on the innocent ear. The heretic speaks, and he speaks with clarity and distinction.

The simplicity of the keyboards make this album memorable. No cheesiness just a haunting aura like you're being stalked by a pack of wolves in the distance.

An earnest attempt at (early) Bathory without any of the songwriting or iconic songs. Not bad but a lot of bands do this sound better (Aura Noir, Destroyer 666).

Mr. Schuldiner was incapable of writing a bad riff and I suspect that is something which can never be disputed on this album and perhaps Death's entire career. His infallibility. At least by the reasoned mind. And the rest of the band, for that matter.
