Husker, out of innocently enquiry... May I know why you like Mushroomhead so much? I googled them and they are a combination of nu/avant-garde/industrial/alternative. Is there any other well known American band that they would sound similar to? My questioning is not inquisitorial, but simply to understand.

I don't know any other band that sounds like them. I dig their style for the most part and especially love Jeff's vocals (the clean vocalist.)

I listen to this very infrequently, but whenever I do it is greatly pleasurable. Such golden melodies, such sullen atmosphere, such mesmerizing weaving and sedation of intention. Two thumps way up!

Engrossing and jarring. Quite the extreme band and not just metal.

Leviathan is definitely some of the best stuff when it comes to USBM, if not the best.

I haven't listened to Leviathan in a very long time, years, but I would say your statement has a high degree of accuracy. Certainly very different in general characteristics in comparison to the Nordic scene, as it is the case that I have always preferred that part of the world's black metal as opposed to anywhere else in the world (say American BM). I will give Leviathan another go tomorrow. What I remember from Leviathan's music was a man who was greatly ambitious about his music and very serious about it, too. I remember Leviathan being very large in scope in terms of the feeling of terror and horror and that feeling of uneasy mystery and eeriness.

First listen since about it was released initially. Let's see how this goes.
