One of the more underrated Viking bands? It always feels to me like this sort of thing is struggling to escape Bathory's shadow, but what I've heard from Ereb Altor sounds hungry and powerful enough to convince.

Aside from lukewarm single Electricity and the terrible Stones cover, Bad Magic is yet another late career jewel for the ageless 'head. The band decided to record live in the studio for the first time ever and the songs crackle with the same live energy that has been their trademark for years. Early faves are the swaggering opener Victory or Die, the grinding, Orgasmatron-eque Choking on Your Screams and greasy, blues rocker Fire Storm Hotel. If you even remotely enjoyed Aftershock, give this one a spin.

It has catchy vocal melodies, decent guitar melodies, it may at times sound a tad generic but altogether a satisfying album filled with almost all the ingredients of a higher than average metal album. The timbre and tone of Ozzy's vocalizations are very unique and instantly recognizable. Every track of this album offers some new musical idea to the table which is something outstanding about this record.

Orcustus - s/t

One of the best Norwegian black metal albums of recent years, I underscored it in the review. Mini supergroup with Dirge Rep, Tormentor and Infernus. Wish they'd get a second album out.
