What's wrong with Bat Country? It's catchy. It's got good riffs, a good solo that, like their others, reminds me of a mix of Guns N' Roses and Sonata Arctica, etc.
And that's a good thing?

Metal's coming back into the mainstream. While a giant load of shit will be made along the way, there'll still be some good stuff made as well, and we may as well grab what's good and listen.
True, up to a point. The only reason labels such as Roadrunner are putting out bands like A7X, Trivium et al is because the "kids" have indicated that they are interested in old skool metal. Instead of doing what they should be doing and getting older stuff, labels are putting out a mix of new and old skool, which is awful, the vast majority at least.

If it's any comfort, BM ain't going into the mainstream, ever. But all this 'oh! We can't let metal into the mainstream!' Fuck, not like we have any say anyway.
Hmmm...hopefully this "christian BM" fad will pass away, and we won't have to endure too many Cradle and Dimmu copiers (I'm actually suprised none have emerged yet). At the end of the day, you're right, all we can do is buy what we want and not what's forced upon us by the media.
