Yes, Chity Somapala has left Firewind. I was gutted when the brilliant Stephen Fredrick quit, but I was surprised at how well Chity seemed to fit with the band (both on Forged by Fire album and the Burning Earth tour bootleg).

Here's hoping Gus G finds another singer good enough to pick up the mantle.

(Now I patiently wait for the "who cares about Firewind" tirade to start  )

I like Firewind somewhat. I love Gus G's playing, he is an awesome guitarist, whether or not his influences show up to much and make it seem like he is unoriginal (like many Gus G hatas will say) it doesn't matter to me, he holds my attention and makes me wanna bang my head, but I have to say, I've never much liked the vocals for any of the albums, they were good IMO but nothing special, just kinda there. They should get Daniel Heiman, mmm, that'd be a tasty combination.

At first I wasn't impressed with Firewind, but it really grows on you after more careful listens. Very good band, although I don't have the 3rd album yet.

I really like Firewind. Their debut album took me by suprise and since i've purchased it and their 2nd, Burning Earth, which is just as good. I'm yet to purchase their 3rd, but have heard 2-3 tracks. It is a shame to lose two very good vocalists.....the band deserves a break

Their debut was way better than the 2nd. Did Fredrick leave on his own? Is he currently in another band?

The reason Fredrick left the band...well kinda pushed out...was because he didnt want to do live shows. He refused to sing live in concert....he tried to push it along for a while, giving excuses not to sing until gus g and the band said enough, we want to tour and play live and if you wont do it, we'll get someone else.....
enter Chitty.....now exit Chitty

Can anyone think of any available vocalists which would suit Firewind to a tea?.....
Barlow...if he ever returned to metal/music?
Kiske??

Barlow would be awesome, but I would settle for Fredrick part 2.

Fredrick is now in Kinrick with Corbin King of Vainglory and Stian Kristofersson. The debut album is not bad, but its a very odd set-up - all the music and lyrics were written by David T Chastain, so its not a real band as such.

Tony Martin would be a great replacement for Chity (what's he doing these days anyway?)

PS Burning Earth is Firewind's best offering IMO.

I beg to differ, Hell Patrol. For someone like Gus G, to be the fantastic guitarist he is at such a young age is unbelievable. Overrated? Hell no. Gus was in 4 different bands at one stage, which just shows how sort after he is and shows his dedication to the metal scene.
He has been given praise world-wide from such guitar heroes as Steve Vai, Malmsteen & Mr. Axel Rudi Pell

I tried Dream Evil and Firewind. I own Evilized, and Burning Earth. So no I haven't tried all of them.

I probably should try Mystic Prophecy too before I say I don't like it huh? Is Mystic Prophecy any good? If they sound like Dream Evil or Firewind, then I probablly will not check them out.

Dude, try Book of Heavy Metal by Dream Evil, to me it was one of the best albums of 2004, Evilized was decent but nothing special. Burning Earth is not nearly as good as Between Heaven and Hell. And no Mystic Prophecy sounds nothing like those 2, it sounds Valley's Eve (same singer and bassist I think)

OK. I'll try them. I'll have to wait a while until I get paid though.
