Global Metal, follow up documentary to Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, and it's much more interesting, I thought the first one was good apart from lacking more discussion of death metal, or any discussion of doom metal, but this one dives into metal from Brazil, China, Japan, Indonesia, India and the Middle East, there's a very interesting interview with a metal fan from Iran that really does provoke a great deal of thought

Being from Iran we are of high passionate toward Metal and happen to know our stuff very well. Iran is going through such a difficult time in its political history that I can only grieve over the severe oppression and magnificent distress they are going through. Mind you, people in Iran have either given up all hope in the current regime and piss on anything being a point of truth in the current political system or are fighting against it with futile and tragic results. It seems that a war is on our hands sooner or later... Iran is in dire need of a revolution.

in the interview this fan talks about how they can't access the music at all in Iran through legal means, how they can't wear their band shirts because they'll be thrown in jail for it, how there had been a couple of shows allowed by the government but with no vocals, but then the government stopped them because they thought the music was still too evil, he was shown a picture someone took standing in front of a Slayer logo that had been spray painted on the side of a building and when asked if he had seen anything like that personally the guy responds "I've DONE this in my country"

Loved this movie....I've watched it quite a few times. Definitely the stuff in the Middle East are the best parts and it also introduced me to Orphaned Land whom I can now say I'm a fan of.

I passed out in a pile of food part way through the movie. Last thing I remember was Dutch's team was attacking the rebel encampment. Still, it was fun while it lasted.

Drinking a Young's Double Chocolate Stout with no intentions of getting wasted. Real tired having spent the day chauffeuring a friend around to get his license and buy a car. Now to read, I go.

Edit: This probably should have gone in the feelings thread. Fuck this shit.

That is so weird. I wanted to edit a post from another thread and it went there? My computer froze on me and closed the web page. Weird shit.

It was meant for Church of Misery, not Sahg.

It's a slow weekend. I'm going to keep the drunk movie watching motif going with some drinks and a blu-ray of Chronicle, which I've never seen before.

I won't be as drunk as last night though, heh.

Gonna have to agree with Snake on this one.

Dunno if it's the alcohol talking, i've had about half a bottle of gin, but fuck me, I thought it was awesome.

For a "superpowers" movie that wasn't based on a comic, it totally blew me away. It featured just about the best character study of a supervillian I've ever seen in a movie, and that includes The Dark Knight. Where most movies of this sort focus on the hero to a large extent, this one really focused on the villian, and it made him so believable, while his actions may not have seemed completely justified in their extremity, you at least understood where he was coming from. Really good shit.

EDIT: Oh, and it had a TOTAL akira thing going on, which I've never seen in a live-action film and was fucking amazing. In fact, I'm not even sure how anyone wouldn't think that was awesome.
