I hope there are some other Aussies on here otherwise I'll have to convert some of you to this great sport

also seems a little pointless starting this thread in the off season

was so happy to get to see just one more game (exhibition match played in London last Saturday) and my team got the win by a point 14.4 88 to 13.9.87 well done to Port Adelaide for that

 that sounds like a surreal experience. Reminds me when I visited Cuba and saw people playing football with coconuts.

Mate!!

So glad to have you here. Cricket and footy, the two things I always wanna discuss but no one else gives a shit!

I'm a one-eyed Carlton supporter, so chances are you'll probably hate me, hehe. At least we'll get along supporting the Aussie cricket team! Check out the how do you feel thread, I responded with regards to the South Africa test.

fifty four points ring a bell in round 10 ring a bell? I'm sorry it's just that's the best I've seen my boys from Alberton play in years

as for the cricket don't worry Cowan and pup will bat the next two days (I hope anyway) to save the test match

Had my head buried in my hands for 75% of that game.

No offence to your boys, they deserved it in the end, but with finals on the line I can't believe we put up such a weak fight.

none taken, I have a healthy respect for Carlton and there is no way they lose to Port Adelaide by fifty four in the wet, if Carlton had matched Port's fire they probably would have won but it would have been one hell of a contest, I'm disappointed that fight just fell away from that game on but I expect them to be better again next year

fucking Adelaide Cheats got off way too easy, three hundred K fine and loss of round one and two draft picks next year? really AFL? how about fining them the six hundred K (double their salary cap breach) and locking them out of two years worth of drafts like you did to Melbourne

Agreed.

As a Carlton supporter I can officially say that this sanction is piss weak. When we rorted the salary cap in '01 we got over $900k worth of fines, which being over a decade ago was a much, much bigger penalty than it sounds like now. Especially in the context of the AFL with regards to all the financial growth it has seen in that time. besides all the draft picks they stripped us of. Shit set us back a decade. So yeah, I can officially say it's utter bullshit for Adelaide to get away with $300k. A joke.

With all that said, I like that they gave Tippett a $50k personal fine. He's obviously a greedy, selfish cunt so I hope that hits him where it hurts.

well it looks almost certain he won't earn anything next year, can't play for over half the season so no club will touch him

as a Port supporter I have an intense loathing of Adelaide at the best of times but to blatantly spit in the face of the AFL and get away with it makes me sick, unfortunately the Port magpies have breached the SANFL salary cap by two grand, and they were hit with a twenty five K find for that so using that as a guide Adelaide should have recieved a fine into the millions

Port Adelaide announce John McCarthy tribute

number 35 guernsey to be retired for one year
number 35 locker retired for one year
number 35 guernsey and locker to be reassigned in 2014 to a player who the club and players feel emboides John's spirit
first home game (rd 2) to be a tribute game in John's honour
rd. 14 clash with Collingwood all proceeds to be donated to a charity established jointly by the two clubs in John's name
new medal established at the Port Adelaide Best and Fairest in recognition of a player's off-field contributions to Port Adelaide and the wider community named for John

I'd say that's a fitting tribute but man still feeling the pain of losing a player and I didn't even know the bloke so I can only imagine what the players themselves are still going through

Eagles fan here only coz that's where my relatives live and I loved it there when it went. I've even got a jersey/vest.

I wonder if you'd get replays of some of the games over there or not Satan, West Coast have been doing pretty well the last few years. my lads Port Adelaide played an exhibition game over there last month at Kia Oval so I know the AFL is keen to try and get the sport up and running in the UK

Get live feeds form a web site for almost any sport.
So yeah I've watched a few it's just the time difference that's the killer.

time difference is an absolute killer, it'd be the reverse if I gave a shit about what you Brits call football and wanted to watch premier league games
