The Green Lantern is cool, even if the movie seemed fucking stupid from the twenty minutes I watched. There is Wonder Woman and Robin and yeah that's all I got. I think the route that they are taking with the gloomier seeming Superman reboot, that they don't want to take DC in the silly comic adventure romp route that Avengers was.

They also have Green Arrow which is a very interesting character and Flash. If DC got their act together and made decent films, they could try and make a Justice League movie which would be more than interesting.

Forgot about the Flash. I don't know how Aqua Man would translate to film.

That's the issue that came to mind when people were being mean to Dumbo. Some sort of social commentary anyhow.

Thumbelina - Didn't like this. Lifeless plot, lifeless animation, annoying voices, cliche characters, cliche music.

This. Hated that movie.

European Vacation. I love Chevy Chase.

The Expendables 2 Better than the first one.

So it's worth the money spent? I'm thinking of seeing it but the first one was so horrible. I only bared it for 25 minutes.

If you hated the first one there's no way you'll like the new one. It's just more of the same.

Sister made me rent The Hunger Games.

Watched that then watched Battle Royale again to cleanse my soul.

I thought they were both on the same level, except the guy in The Hunger Games looks retarded, which annoys me.

Although Hunger Games is not that bad compared to other Hollywood overhyped shit like boringasfuck Avengers, it is nowhere near Battle Royale ( one of the greatest movies of the last two decades ).

You're crazy man. Battle Royale is one of the most overhyped films ever, much more so than The Avengers, which by the way is waaaaayyy better than both Hunger Games and Battle Royale. It's funny how you're saying Hollywood films are overhyped, when Asian films are much, much worse in that regard... I mean, Oldboy and all those revenge-films that actually aren't that great, but they were underground and cool like 10 years ago, are still living off of the hype. Much like Battle Royale.

The Avengers is vaaaaayyy better than Battle Royale, yeeah, you're absolutely right. And Transformers trilogy is vaaayyy greater than The Godfather trilogy, it has like, explosions and stuff. Fuck yeah.
Man, how can u even compare CGI crapfest like Avengers to Battle Royale or Oldboy is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching good fun popcorn flick now and then but I fell asleep halfway through Avengers.

Comments preface: Never saw, or wanted to see, hunger games, battle royale, or avengers.

But I do generally agree with Edge here on overhyped modern Asian films. Oldboy was cool at the time, sure, but I don't think those Revenge movies age well. Part of the issue is the number of obsessed Quentin Tarantino fans out there that lap up whichever Asian film he is hyping at the moment, people coming late to the party to the movies "The Departed" were based on, people assuming every Wong Kar Wai movie would be excellent because a few are, etc.

I think another aspect of the underlying hype problem is that most so-called cinephiles (aka the average Film major at every American university) take, at best, snapshot judgements of a genre or canon director based on the most popular one or two films and just claim that they are an expert in the field/person.

The Hunger Games was great, but I also read the books. Battle Royale was decent. Once you get over the fact that it's a bunch of asian school kids, i.e., a bunch of asian schoolgirls, with weapons killing other students, in particular, other asian schoolgirls, with Tarantino levels of blood, then Battle Royale is no big fucking deal. Grow out of your Asian fetish, douchebags.
