Breaking Bonaduce. My favorite episode is where he buys a bottle of fruit juice, dumps a little bit out, pours a bottle of vodka in it, then chugs it in the middle of the sidewalk.

I would if I could...

I used to be very happy for years in Demonoid. Now it's down, again... hope they arise from the ashes.

I'm about to start watching either Mad Men or Shameless (UK).
Any thoughts, opinions on these two series?

I've seen a few episodes of the UK version of Shameless here and there. Never seemed like anything worth investing any time in to me.

Shameless is fantastic but it takes some getting into, especially for the Manc accent to click.

Mad Men is excellent but a slow burner. Never seen Shameless.

Mad Men's first two seasons were really excellent, but I think the show's quality has irrecoverably declined since then. Two hugely important elements of the dramatic side of the story have disappeared over time (I won't mention them), and now I think Mad Men is basically self-parody and one-liners. That doesn't mean it still isn't fun to watch, and occasionally hilarious, but to be the most celebrated American show in history (as measured by Emmy nods) is quite the stretch.

I only saw the first two seasons of Shameless (UK), but they were another slow-burning treat.

Hmm, Shameless looks interesting. So, which one is the best? UK or US? I will definitely watch both.

Ohh no. No fucking way. Not only is David Threlfall entirely and utterly Frank Gallagher, but he essentially conceived the show and all the characters himself. The feel, the atmosphere and the interaction just goes to fuck itself in the US version. It's nonexistent. You need James McAvoy and the rest to really understand who the characters are and what they do. You need the heavy irish accent on Patrick Maguire. You need the evolution of the family and the characters throughout the eight seasons. The US version is simply pish, doesn't cut it, cheap imitation, fuck right off.

No. The UK version was too slapstick, while the US version succeeds as a drama. The US' characters are actually endearing and don't come off as sad human beings.

Sounds like a similar UK/US The Office situation - the UK's depressing pathos worked in a different way to the US' more endearing charm. About right?

Jon Benjamin Has A Van

This show is ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome. Most of you may not know who Jon is, but as soon as you hear his voice you'll go "oh shit him". Funny stuff.

Hell on Wheels. I watched the first season. It's good, but in ten episodes it never became amazing. Just decent.

I've heard good things about Justified, that is, if you like Sons of Anarchy. That's at least how my friend tried to convince me to watch it, but I have yet to.

I was told to watch Justified if you like The Shield, and I love The Shield. It even has Walt Goggins, Shane, from The Shield. I will be trying Justified for sure, but Hell on Wheels is still a maybe and will have to wait.

It's not supposed to be a fucking drama, it's a comedy show about absurdity, poverty, and brilliantly drawn characters.
