Wow, this beast has my interest! Thanks for the heads up, Goat.

15 minutes into this monster, and already thinking album of the year material. I'll forgive the shot at Xasthur for your choice in reviewing such excellent stuff :dio: :dio:

Spot on review, Zadster. This album is a remarkable achievement in scope, to say the least, an album that will stay with someone, years after first hearing, I will predict. Not every moment is perfect (though The Temple is Falling comes damn close), but the sum makes up more than the individual parts.

Great job, Zad, I mean that. The hypnotic wall of sound keys/tremelo guitar rifflines in the middle part of blood of ancients, blood of hatred is up there with the very best Drudkh ever released (False Dawn, Summoning the Rain type stuff). I only vaguely remember Elysian Blaze's first album, but I'll be relistening to that one for sure. Any opinions generally on his first two albums?

Answering my own question, I thought Elyisan Blaze's early material was interesting but too raw to be appreciated to the extent that Blood Geometry could be appreciated.

So anyone besides Zad and I that have listened to this album? Really superlative material.

No. Not yet. This hasn't been in front my eyes in my room so I had totally forgotten about it. I believe it's a night album with headphones I would imagine.

Correct, it definitely is a full attention type of album.

First spin, just finishing the second song The Temple is Falling. Best Black Metal I've heard this year.

Liked most of it from what I heard, but I don't think I'd appreciate it as much as their earlier stuff.

Did you prefer Cold Walls or Levitating the Carnal?

Levitating the Carnal in particular it just had a raw and ethereal vibe about the music. They're a great band and this is a great release but I enjoyed the Xasthur-esque cold riffing from Levitating

I still have to hear LtC as I have it on my shelves but since BG has been the only album I've heard from this one man band, I loved it immediately!
