Hi guys,

Some of you tried the Quiz #0 in the other subforum, which was some kind of test, but now here's Quiz #1 :) This one is much easier than #0, which was ridiculously hard (sorry again). EDIT: This is hosted by Sporcle.com, you NEED TO CLICK ON THE 'NEXT' BUTTON WHEN YOU PASS. But not when you succeed, though. E.g.: let's say you don't know which band #2 is (and this is normal, as #2 is especially tough to find, lol). You have to click on 'next' in order to enter you answer for #3. Otherwise, the website will think you're still trying to guess #2.

There are 20 track samples of 20 seconds each. Some are easy, some are of average difficulty, some are hard, one is very hard. I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if anyone gets all of them without cheating (because yes, you can always google the lyrics and/or Shazam the tracks, which is precisely why I'm not making this a contest with a prize as first intended). Anyway, I hope you have fun with it nonetheless !

Oh and, I'm posting this here because the quiz is PM/Prog/TM-centered. If some of you guys are interested in a Thrash/DM/BM/Doom quiz, I'd be more than happy to make one, in the other forum.

So... how many did you manage to find ? :D

EDIT: were found so far:

#01 - by 3 people (Tompa, Metastable to Chaos, MetalStorm)
#02 -
#03 - by 1 people (Wivian)
#04 - by 1 people (Afro)
#05 - by 1 people (Afro)
#06 - by 1 people (Tompa)
#07 - by 1 people (Afro)
#08 -
#09 - by 1 people (Wivian)
#10 -
#11 -
#12 -
#13 -
#14 - by 1 people (Tompa)
#15 -
#16 - by 1 people (Afro)
#17 -
#18 - by 1 people (Afro)
#19 - by 1 people (Wivian)
#20 - by 2 people (Tompa, Wivian)

I only got 5 lol. I was so sure of 2 others though and recognized a ton but couldn't think of it. Very fun, thanks :dio:

I got 4, 5, 7, 16 and 18. I knew the bands for a few of the others but couldn't pin the song name. Very well-done quiz though, a big improvement on the last one.

You only need to put the band names, forget about the song names (too tedious)! And, thanks :) Will try to make the next one better, perhaps with pictures or something, idk.

I wonder if you can collectively find all of them ? (reminder : only the band names are required, not the track titles) I'm editing the OP with what found and what wasn't :) Meta, which ones did you get right ? And, The Silent Man, did you mean you only got #5, or 5 of them ?

Thanks anyway :) I'm posting the results in, say, 10 days.

For the next ones, I'm thinking of making them shorter (12 tracks or 20 seconds each), and following this formula:
- 3 easy ones (classics/worlwide-known bands and tracks),
- 3 fairly easy (famous tracks),
- 3 average or above average (you'd have to know the bands),
- 2 hard (you'd have to very well know the bands),
- and 1 near impossible (unless you're a die-hard fan of the band).

You'd still have to find the band names only. Would it be more fun that way? Any ideas?

All I got was #1, lol. There were a couple others that I could've sworn were certain bands but they were not.

I think your formula sounds good.

I'm with Tompa in the only got 1 right club  that's because #1 is way to easy and if you got it wrong you're not a metal head.

Others I've heard but can't pinpoint the bands and the ones with just the solos are even tougher.

Edit I meant MTC

You can always mix it up a bit, like using obscure songs by famous bands.

It's fun when you hear a song that you've never once heard before but you can still instantly pick what band it is despite not hearing any vocals.

Don't forget that you have to click the "Next" button between songs, you can only guess on one at a time.

That would be hilarious if this is why people scored low  (I already knew since I'm a Sporcle-holic so I'm legitimately bad).

Oh boy, I hadn't thought of that  I have added the following to the OP: "This is hosted by Sporcle.com, so you NEED TO CLICK ON THE 'NEXT' BUTTON WHEN YOU PASS. But not when you succeed, though. E.g.: let's say you don't know which band #2 is (and this is normal, as #2 is especially tough to find, lol). You have to click on 'next' in order to enter you answer for #3. I hope it's clear  Should have mentioned this in the first place, sorry guys. Now that you're aware of this, please tell me someone has at least 8 bands... :D

Edit: also, if you're sure you know the band but can't name it just right now, you can put the video AND the quiz on pause (on the right side). You then may want to hum the song. Trust me, it helps. :)

OK, go for a 12-track thing, 20 is definitely too damn long. I'm preparing the next video, there will be pictures and hints. It will be 25% easy, 50% normal, 25% tough. I'm going to keep the instrumental bits for the "easy" and "tough" ones.

Regarding this quiz, here are hints for the missing ones:

#02 - A slice of heat machine.
#08 - The album the song is taken from was released only in Japan. (A shame, because it is excellent.)
#10 - AC/DC worshippers
#11 - This album was talked about not too long ago in this very subforum... :)
#12 - Hinting that one is difficult, because the excerpt is plain obvious if you know the band.
#13 - An awesome Prog band.
#15 - An awesome French band.
#17 - There was a song about an Axeman in the same album. Besides, the album is A FUCKING CLASSIC, guys.

:)
