Haha, indeed, I was violently defending St. Anger, that was good fun

I really have nothing new to say about the whole St. Anger deal. I really think it sucks. It's probably the only dissapointment that made me laugh so hard. I like some of their older stuff: 'And Justice For All' is amazing.

Man... I got into flamewars pretty easy in those days. Good times!

Totally agreed, man. Metallica is nothing compared to Slayer and hell even Anthrax.

That's precisely how it is where I live. And even more amazing is that these commercials are all the same. Some early-20-something with a slight growl trying to sound all tough promoting "Results May Vary - in stores now!" with the band doing stupid stuff and their actual music in the distant background. Hmmm, come to think of it, that is actually a pretty accurate depiction of what MTV has been doing for the last eight years.

It was not a joke, but I didn't like it either (of course). I just found it challeging to oppose about everyone 8) I think my "REVIEW SUCKS" post got the most replies EVER!! It was great fun!

I can't vote on this...Metallica doesn't suck, they were a good band once, I even liked the Black Album. But this album is worse than "pretty crap"...It's fucking unlistenable, I can't sit through it. It's faaaar too damn long, the production sucks, the guitars suck and the drums doesn't need any more comments. Godawful album.

I wouldn't go THAT far. Anthrax are barely mediocre, and Slayer is so overrated among metal circles that even Metallica can't touch them in that respect.

There are a ton of thrash bands outside of the big 4 that have a lot more going for them, Coroner, At War, Kreator, Anacrusis(though they weren't incredibly impressive at the very beginning of their career), Flotsam and Jetsam, Overkill, and so on . And in the case of Coroner and Anacrusis especially, around the time that the bigger thrash acts were streamlining their sound for MTV acceptance they were actually evolving, instead of regressing.

As for St. Anger, it's complete garbage.

Ubber crap. They made the drums sound like a tin can, they have very bad lyrics, made the songs longer than needed and worse of all it's the worst instrument playing they've done in years.

It's awful. No solos, terrible production and more of James's atrocious lyrics. Bad riffs too. I still like their 80s output more than Slayers though.

i totaly forgot about this album...on purpose, its horrible. i use it as a frisbie now.

Is it just me, or have Metallica's albums gone steadily from metal to country? Listen to Load, ReLoad and St.Anger, then listen to Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightening and Metal Up Your Ass (Kill 'em All). You would think that it was 2 differant bands. Though St. Anger is better then Load and ReLoad (how could you do any worse) and does sound slightly more Metallicaish. Still, no Master of Puppets

being young metalhead, u'd expect me to like this atrocity, seeing as all my surfing mates love it. Fuck no. I hate this abominable garbage. Shame on you 'tallica, even MTV is over u guys now uve sold out that much. :evil:
