Pretty much agreed with this.

I dunno, the guy says that all he wants to do is "put out a fun issue that spotlights some rad female musicians without taking ourselves too seriously and getting all didactic 'Women in Rock' on anyone," but he kinds mars his arguments by getting super-defensive all the time. I'm cool with the issue, I mean, whatever, I don't even read Revolver, and if the women they've highlighted are cool with it then good for them, but it seems like another dated silly "HEY BOYS, GIRLS CAN ROCK JUST AS HARD AS YOU CAN" sorta thing when I'd expect everyone to be past that mindframe by now.

But not all women are hot. Not all men are hot. How many people listened to Poison just because the girls wanted to bang them and the guys wanted to be like them so the girls would bang them?

Yeah the Hottest Women in Metal idea is dumb because treating them as anomally and focusing on their looks is bad and should stop.

Yeah Valentine had it right. But then she's pretty fucking awesome and kinda not hot.

Probably not. But two or three friends have seemed genuinely troubled by people being friends with them just because of their looks and things like that. ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE. People don't like being boiled down to one thing. Especially when it's a magazine that's ostensibly about music focusing on something that is not music.

dunno if i'm alone on this - even when there is a really hot metal girl, like, say, christina scabia, i still can't think of them in the same way as, say, penelope cruz or whatever. so the whole "hottest rock girls" thing kind of misses the mark with me anyway.

I saw warbringer recently and one of the bands that opened for them had a girl vocalist and I didn't even know until someone mentioned it, I was far away at the bar so I couldn't really tell.

I have the inverse reaction. Ladies like Grace Perry, Kat Katz, or Melanie Mongeon I find to be more more attractive because they are such badass screamers.
