i was wondering what people thought of rappers who have been largely inspired by metal
the obvious ones that come to mind are ill bill, necro, immortal technique etc
and funnily enough necro references euronymous in one of his songs

Vinnie Paz from Jedi Mind Tricks. I mean, all you need to do is just look at some of the titles he has in both JMT and his solo stuff (i.e. Scars Of The Crucifix, Kill 'Em All, etc). And of course he has the Heavy Metal Kings project with Ill Bill.

ah i will have to check out jedi mind tricks and i'm a fan of the heavy metal kings but the most obvious reference to metal from a rapper to me has to be the cover art of "prefix for death" by necro very big death homage

I don't find Dälek particularily metal-influenced.
I'd go with krautrock or industrial more than metal.

Not a very good excuse, admittedly.

Immortal Technique metal influenced?? Don't think so.
Can't remember the name of this turk-german guy who used some samples by Dimmu Borgir in "his" songs. I like it, even if I don't know wtf is he talking about :P

I kinda agree with this. Folks in metal however seem to dig him and with good reason.

Meh, rap is the most worthless type of music ever invented along with techno.

Though I do like The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

It's his opinion, and I respect it. I think the same of Reggaeton and Narco-corridos.

It's fine to not like it but what is the point of posting it in this thread? We're talking about rappers influenced by metal, not what you think of the genre as a whole.

I might as well just go to the Football thread and say, "I don't watch football."

I feel sorry for you, really. El fútbol es el deporte mas hermoso del mundo. Perhaps you don't like football because Canada sucks at it. But who wants football when you have hockey and winter sports? I like hockey, but only watch the playoffs.

+2. Not metal influenced. He's good though.

Hodgy Beats listens to metal.

Need to find some good rap...the only stuff that gets me excited is Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. Technically they're not that incredible as rappers, but they've got something which just makes them way more fucking fun to listen to than "good" stuff like Big KRIT, for example, which I could not get into for the life of me.

Well, I watch the World Cup and Euro but that's about it.
