Cool one, but the special effects (especially the beheading by the powerful flying guillotine) are ridiculous, cheap made. Anyway, that old man is fucking krieg. I would like to live in a mountain perfecting my kung fu :dio:

Well, the special effects (emphasis on the word "special") is part of what is so endearing.

The blind old man is indeed fucking krieg.
Whilst perfecting your kung-fu, you'll need a chained up monkey pacing back and forth on it's two square feet of rock.
That opening scene is one of the best, and I suspect that was a live chicken being beheaded, though I may be wrong.

What about planet of the apes? Is it as good as they say it is? Anyone?
One friend said it was great. Adjust that opinion for who said it and it might just be good. I still don't get how monkeys are able to overcome paramilitary forces. This question never came up in the original. You imagined nuclear war wiping us out and the apes taking over. I don't like this one's story before I even see it.

Yes, the opening scene is epic. I'm pretty sure the chicken was no special effect, but a live one. When I was a kid, my grandfathers had a ranch, and I liked to help my grandma in the killing chicken business. She had a great technique, twisted the neck in a rapid movement, painlessly. I was more sadistic, though. So, I'm pretty sure that scene was a live one.

Do you know any more movies in the vein? I wasn't born when the boom of Kung Fu movies in the 70's started. I've only seen some Bruce Lee stuff...

Yeah, I love the old 70s kung-fu theater movies they used to show every Saturday here in the States... my Bruce Lee collection includes Fist of Fury, Enter The Dragon and Game of Death.

Check it out, tons of movies.

There is a list of classic kung-fu to chose from, if you don't mind dubbed, or even undubbed movies in Chinese.
At any rate, it will point you in the right direction regarding what to purchase, rent, whatever.

Requiem for a Dream. So fucking depressing. First time fully watching it through but I knew the worst parts already. So fucked up.

Fuck. I felt like I was gonna faint or something the first time I watched it. Then watched it many more times. Still depressing. Aronofsky is amazing.

American Psycho - Really underrated movie. Great acting by Bale. Thoroughly entertaining and disturbing at the same time.

Obviously will never be as good as the original, but it seems like they're making an effort.

Felt sick for two days after watch this, seven or eight years ago. And then swore to avoid every single Aronofsky movie like the plague. Life without Aronofsky = better life.

Everyone who watched it does. Most have not. It's more of a cult classic.

Conan The Barbarian is on! Already laughing at Arnie's comedy noises as he gets chased by dogs. Top film.

Arnie's just shagged that witch who turns into a fireball and shoots about laughing for minutes.

Favourite moment - "I'M A WIZARD, MIND YOU!"
