And yet you long for the Elisa Martin days.

Actually, I typically can't stand female vocalists either, but Elisa Martin is a rare exception. She may not be the best singer, but there's a certain quality to her voice that I fucking love.

Now you're thinking with your dip stick Jimmy

LOL, yeah I remember that.

Yeah, me too...

Hahaha. Good times.

Well yeah, she is the exception. Her and the girl from Triosphere are both amazing.

Hi everyone!

Sorry for playing the necromancer and reviving this long-dead thread, but...

Do you guys remember when we had this chat about the band's name? That was like, long ago, I think social security numbers were all in Roman Numerals at the time. Well, anyway, I have had time to think about all this and do a bit of soul-searching. If you don't mind, I'd like to repost here my latest positions about the band's name:

Quote:
Hi all, special announcement:

I'm starting to get a bit tired of all the name bashing going on about Fairyland being a "gay" band name. So let's settle things for a second: Although I am not gay, I am a fervent LGBT-rights defender. So I will gladly endorse the homosexual quality of the band's name from now on. I hope this settles things.

So yeah, Fairyland may sound gay, and I'm A-OK with it. Spread the word!

:)

Man that's at least the 3rd time I've seen band members of some renown post on these forums. If only some of these guys would actually stay and become usuals, that would be pretty interesting. I've heard of you guys before, but I've never actually listened fully to a Fairyland album. hmmm

Hey now!

Well, I do hang around sometimes. I have about a gazillion forums that I'm following, thoug, so it's not always easy to post everywhere. And I'm not so up-to-date with recent releases and therefore won't contribute much to contemporary metal talks.

Although I did receive my copies of Devin Townsend's two latests and Symphony X's limited edition of Iconoclast.

BLAST OFF!!! :dio: :dio: :dio:

I still think this album is amazing. And Phil, I'm sorry man, but I still wish you guys had a different name.

Any word on a new album?

Oh, and I don't mind female vocals anymore. I actually like them when appropriate.

Would you mind if I ask you why you have a problem with the name? It's kind of important to me to understand the underlying reasons...

New album is shaping up fine. I'm thinking of putting a few demo samples into an mp3 and launch them on ze interweb soon. I'll link the piece here when I do.

Excellent explanation. Clear as water. Gayland, not a good name for a proud metalhead to bear. Maybe for trapt, he loves cocks :omfg:

Mmmh... Interesting. I had never noticed before that the metal community at large was so homophobic.

Something to ponder on...

Please, shhhhhh.... We had a long and tiring thread on the matter. Turns out the metal scene is not homophobic at all, it just suports the values of proud masculinity and logical dominance over lesser individuals. Survival of the fittest, if you will.

Anyway, it's more that it sounds a bit like a joke... Like Nanowar for example.

EDIT
Maybe you guys should embrace the ambiguity and make the first ever gay metal epic.

With Halford in pink leather and fairywings leading the band. Awesome. I would pay to see a show like that

Well, That's what I'm trying to do (minus Halford. Can't manage to gather the economical resources to have him on board).

:p
