I'm following it. Sweden plays against Australia tomorrow and should have a good chance. Then they will probably get their asses kicked by Germany in the semifinals.

ladies' football still has some hilarious moments, like that one where some african defender blatantly grabbed the ball in the penalty box, i think it was against Australia, and the ref didn't say anything lol.

but Brazil's Marta could probably put many a male player on the bench

Speaking of the ladies World Cup, this apparently caused some controversy in Germany:

So I think I'm going down to O'Neill's in an hour to watch the Gaelic Football. I'm bored without the SPL over the summer and Dublin - Wexford looks like a fun match. Here's hoping Wexford get the win as underdogs (assuming I can follow the fast pace of the game).

Thank God USA won! Not that I root for them or anything, but it would have been horrible if they had lost, seeing how they played the game against 12 opponents: 11 Brazilian players and one of the worst referees I've ever seen in my life.

Sweden looked really good against Australia. Especially our defense has been rock solid throughout the tournament. Japan will be very tough, though. A team that can keep Germany scoreless for 120 minutes is obviously a very good one.

Aberdeen are playing Villareal in Pittodrie next week. I'm buying a kit for this game, going to be fucking brilliant.

Btw, is anyone else following the GAA? Watched my first hurling match yesterday, was a lot of fun. Connacht and Ulster finals next week for the gaelic football, going to be rooting for Mayo and Donegal. Let's go boys!

France 1 - USA 3
Sweden 1 - Japan 3

We Frenchies lost à la française : we played well, we had plenty of occasions (25 occasions to score, against only 5 for the USA), but we managed to get our asses kicked nonetheless. As usual. And our goalkeeper sucks.

I didn't have the chance to see the swedish game unfortunately, how did it go ? Is Japan that strong ?

Anyway, USA vs. Japan, now that I think of it, may very well be the 2030 (men's) World Cup final !

They completely outplayed us. We managed to score a goal on our only good scoring chance in the entire game. The Swedish team was simply a trainwreck last night; it was embarassing to watch.

However, I still think USA will take this. Japan has a quite big weakness: they aren't very good at creating really good scoring chances. They want to play like Barcelona but lack a playmaker who can make that decisive pass. They managed to score three goals on us mostly because our goalie was absolutely terrible. Their second goal was completely her fault, and their third goal was more or less her fault too.

hmm... well done Japan!

what about the Copa America? Messi's team, Pato and Neymar's team, Falcao's team and Alexis Sanchez' team... eliminated! usually i'd say Uruguay are now super-favourites, but clearly this is one tournament you'd do well not to bet anything on.

You're the only guy I know who gets thrilled by a friendly game. But hey, good for you.

Regarding the Copa thing, I admit I didn't follow. I'm not surprised Argentina and Brazil got kicked out however. Collectively (as a team I mean), they're not that strong. For now.

Oh and congrats to Japanese girls yes.

If it were something like Aberdeen - St Johnstone or some rubbish like that, I wouldn't care, but seeing Aberdeen against a big club like Villareal is going to be a lot of fun. We'll show those Spanish pussies what real supporters are like!
