Essentially I thought it was fine, like you did. A rather pale imitation of Mann's generally regarded masterwork, "Heat" though. I'd strongly recommend checking that out if you liked this.

Oh, absolutely, seen it many times. Poor sod's probably sick of people whining about how his latest isn't as good as Heat! :D

Haha, no doubt. I did like Public Enemies, but the movie reminded me of Heat in a number of ways.
Thought Public Enemies was really weak given Bale and Depp who are generally kinda captivating on screen to be honest.

No-one really got a chance to shine, did they? It was almost like a documentary in some ways, although the individual acting was very good - took me a while to recognise Billy Crudup, and Stephen Graham was as good as ever as Babyface Nelson. Interesting contrast with the film Depp went to see, completely the opposite in the way that relied on star power where this didn't.

Why can't Hollywood use Scottish actors for Scottish parts? Christopher Lambert's weird French thing sounds horrible.
EDIT: And Sean Connery is playing a Spaniard. What the fuck was the casting team thinking?

Actually, Christophe Lambert sounds worse when he speaks french. But yeah, I agree.

It's probably because he grew up in Geneva and the Swiss don't speak proper French. ;)
He's supposed to be a Scottish highlander. He's called Macleod for fuck's sake. He can't even pull off straight American.

The Lincoln Lawyer. Excellent, very gripping.

Sleuth - Now that's a goddamn film! A pair of wonderful actors toying with each other, by turns charming, amusing, confusing, and ultimately oddly disturbing. What a great pair Michael Caine and Sir Laurence Olivier make.

I should watch that. Seen the Jude Law vs Michael Caine one because I thought the premise sounded awesome but thought it ran out of ideas 2/3rds of the way through.

In The Company Of Men - Very talky, very nasty, but much deeper than I expected. Aaron Eckhart's a pretty great actor, he's very good here at playing (what can only be described as) a cunt.

I actually really like him. His performance in Rabbit Hole was great... he played a good guy. But he is very good a playing a, cunt.

Didn't see Rabbit Hole, didn't especially want to... looked far too depressing.

Limitless - Watched it for De Niro and Abbie Cornish ( ) but fuck me, a (reasonably) intelligent film with an intriguing premise, not to mention it's the first thing I've seen Bradley Cooper in where I didn't constantly want to beat him to death, which gets it an extra star for shock value. Another star for some very nice camera tricks, minus one for a few unanswered plot points... all in all good stuff. 4*.

Royal Tenenbaums - Had to pick out a character to dress up like for a Wes Anderson party. (fucking hate hipsters) Going with Gene Hackman so I can just wear a suit.

Revolver - Umm no. Second time seeing it, forgot what even happened in it and has great Ritchie moments but overall blows.

So the badassery of Kurt Russel will be replaced by, a kinda pretty face?

I hope Hollywood burns to the fucking ground. Shamelessly shitting on every movie I once loved. Fucking motherfuckers.

I was gonna post a leaked The Dark Knight Rises trailer here but they already removed it. If anyone find a good version of it, let MR know.

King Lear (2008, Ian McKellan) - Mostly good but sometimes when Ian McKellan gets excited he's hard to understand, which is bad since reading Shakespeare is sometimes hard to understand.

Amelie - I like this movie a lot because I'm shy and it's romantic and Audrey Tautou.
