Playing that Ascension album again. So damn good.

I know, I know, but Changing Of The Guards is a tune and a half and a childhood memory to boot. Remember parents playing it.

Thoughts? Top 5 of 2010 for me, probably my favorite Agalloch album. This or the Mantle.

Pretty good! Sorry I missed out on it before. Needs more listens, clearly, but thumbs up so far.

Hope to see the review soon. I know someone else is supposed to review the album, but it's taking too long...

Ascension - Fire and Faith (2010)
The EP released before their album with two tracks that are not on it and one in a different version.

Marrow of the Spirit is such a great album that it managed to become my album of 2010 despite being the weakest record of their discography so far IMO.

Alcest reissue of Le Secret ep, with the two songs rerecorded with a few new arrangements and better production. So beautiful... like the rainbows emperorblackdoom loves so much, especially the second song, Elévation

^^Just bought the EP from Alcest on Alexander's recommendation, plus Ahab's latest. Alexander, it better be good .

It's beyond good and evil, it's the joy and tragedy of life, like screaming to the winds atop of a mountain "I'm alive!", then suddenly realizing you're dying. "Blessed be the ones who comprehend without effort the language of the flowers and silent things, and rainbows too!".

Sounds intriguing. I've heard some of it and liked it a lot. But I'm going to make it interesting and wait for it to arrive in the mail. Or maybe I'll give it a listen on youtube .

But I'm very intrigued to hear. I guess I'll give it multiple listens one on youtube and two on CD; one the actual recording, and then the remastered.

Lemme digest it and I'll tell you.
A second spin will be necessary to form an real first opinion, me thinks.

The 2011 version is slightly better, I like the new arrangements.
