Favourite five bands of the moment: My all-time favourites that don't really change from being at the top: Burzum and Darkthrone. Other than that I guess I'll just go with what I've been listening to more than usual: Mercyful Fate, Asphyx, Sarke. Others that are typically at the top of my list: Nifelheim, Judas Iscariot, Bolt Thrower.
Current favourite album: All-time favourite: Burzum - Hvis lyset tar oss. Listening to more than usual: Mercyful Fate - Don't Break the Oath, Sarke - Varuna, Asphyx - Death...The Brutal Way.
Non-musical interests: Reading, filling my veins with alcohol, going to shows, writing, strength training, martial arts, running, exposing others to my worthless opinion on how shitty everything in the world is.
How you discovered Metal: My mother was into 70's metal and my father was into 60's rock and 70's rock and metal so I was exposed to Sabbath and so on at a young age. But didn't actually get avidly into metal until about 13 years ago when I was 13 years old and got into Pantera and Slayer. Then quickly progressed to mainstream thrash beyond Slayer, to well-known death metal bands like Cannibal Corpse and Deicide until I hit Norwegian black metal at maybe 15 years old. There has been no turning back since
How you discovered Metal Reviews: An online friend directed me to it in 2004 or 2005 and so I joined up. This is actually IronD from...some time in the past, under a new name. Dunno if anyone actually remembers my ramblings, haha.

Yep, back to living in T.O. now. Not too many good shows so far in 2011, I gotta say! Mostly local bands and such.

The closest cool gig (beyond small local stuff) I know of is that Easter Intoxication Tour thing on April 23rd with Exciter. It's like an all day (well from 4pm onward) thrash show with Exciter, Fatality, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder and a bunch of others.

Favourite five bands of the moment: Pointless I'd say, it changes every hour. But I'll throw five random names of band I love : Maiden, Equilibrium, Blind Guardian, Hevy Devy, Virgin Steele. Oh and Kreator. And Judas Priest. And Annihilator. And Nevermore. And... See ? Pointless.
Current favourite album: Enforcer - Diamonds
Non-musical interests: Politics, sports, food, waiting for an apocalypse.
How you discovered Metal: Let's see... I was 13, a friend of mine was into hard rock, then metal. I followed. I stayed (he didn't). Best thing I did in my life, if you ask me.
How you discovered Metal Reviews: 10 years ago actually (maybe a bit less), by altavisting "metal reviews". I lurked the forums for all this time. I know everything about you, people. Everything.
Gen. info: Gah. Here I should say I have a evolving neuro condition (MS), crippling me a bit. Have trouble to walk longer than 10 minutes, and can't see right with my right eye. Hoping it stays that way. Anyway, other than that, the average metal listener. Not tremendously self-confident, nice guy, und so weiter.

Ditto. Why'd you wait until now to reveal yourself, if indeed you were lurking?

The first years, my english simply wasn't good enough. Afterwards, I just didn't feel my contribution to the forums would be worthwhile. I still don't, but let's say I don't give a damn anymore. Also, this website and its members made me discover so many marvelous bands that I thought it was time I said 'hello', and 'thanks' for the hard and appreciated work.

:)

Ah, well at any rate it's nice to see new faces on the forum. Welcome!

Black Emperor, Tenhi, Enslaved, King Crimson, Arcana, (new) Primordial, (new) Katatonia, (new) Arcana, Testament, Wolves In The Throne Room, (new) Septic Flesh, Ulver, Drudkh, Pink Floyd, Melechesh, Iron Maiden, Classical Composers: Vivaldi, Brahms, Dvorak, Bach, David Darling, Steve Reich, and I'm sure I'm forgetting more. They have been favourites for a long time.
Current favourite album: Don't have one at moment but Agalloch - The Mantle is always on the play-list.
Non-musical interests: Philosophy, Psychology, Arts in general, Literature.
How you discovered Metal: Started with bands like Pink Floyd and Scorpions and went on from there.
How you discovered Metal Reviews: Searching on the web for metal reviews (what else!).
Gen. info: Reflective, write philosophical prose in a poetic sense, originally Persian and have lived in England and now in Canada for almost ten years. Like deep and mature conversations as well as shooting the breeze with the buddies. Taking life much easier than before. Discovering metal and philosophy were the two best things that has ever happened to me.

About time being a member of this site for 5 years.

You should post a pic of yourself. It's cool to have a mental image of the people you talk to. We now know that noodles is a dancing unicorn who uses sexy sweaters (demonstrated by emperorblackdoom in other thread), so it would be nice to know how the philosophizing eagle looks like.
