Hanna - Pretty good, kind of a cross between a fairy-tale and a hitman thriller. Ebert explains it much better, but definitely four stars. Saoirse Ronan is turning out to be a very good actress.

Man On Fire

Watched it for the second time after such a long time. A great movie.

hated that movie. had less than a handful of lol-worthy moments. steve carell sucks. THERE, I SAID IT.

evan almighty is fucking terrible, date night sucks, and little miss sunshine is fucking overrated. anchorman is great, of course, and i like him in it, but it's the one exception.

Steve Carell is da man!
Well, actually, Seth Rogen is but Carell is a close second.

King's Speech - loved it
Gandhi - as good as I remembered it being, despite how long it is.

Watching The Lovely Bones right now. Tucci is a creepy, creepy motherfucker and Ronan is excellent. Got Atonement lined up next (curious to see how an Ian McEwan novel holds up as a film adaptation), and I'll probably go see Hanna sometime soon.

The Office and 40 Year Old Virgin make me like Steve Carrell. Dinner for Schmucks was stupid, but I don't blame that on Carrell. Haven't seen Date Night, so no comment there. And yes, Anchorman is a modern day classic.

I haven't disliked anything I've seen Steve Carrell in although I did avoid Evan Almighty. Love him beacuse of The Office.

forgot about the 40 Year-old Virgin, i did love that one. but like you don't blame Dinner for Schmucks on Carell, i can't forget how Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen and others also help make it a great movie.

Watched The Cry of Jazz on youtube. Weird documentary from 1959 that argues only black people can make jazz, white people have no souls, and that jazz is dead. I liked the caricatures of negro life as playing pool and dancing, and white life as combing a poodle. cry of the banshee would probably have a hemorrhage watching it lol.

This sounds oddly interesting.

It was! Even though I disagreed with it almost right away I still wanted to see where it was going with its ideas and could kinda see where they were coming from. Like it's a bit of a stretch to call the repeated chord progressions of a jazz song a metaphor for the hopelessness of life as a black american, but it sure sounds cool.
