Also Winter's Bone. One of the most overrated pieces of shit I've ever seen. NOTHING happened. I can't believe the shit critics say about this one, it's supposed to be really intense and suspenseful but it's actually shit.

I would agree for the first 5-10 minutes or so, but found it pretty fascinating once he started building the site and fucking everyone else over. Stuff was happening, all right.

Yeah except the thing that were happening were like, everyday stuff. I mean why am I watching this, I can go have a fight with my girlfriend for more drama and excitement.

I thought there was, if anything, too much happening in The Social Network and it didn't give you time for the emotional impact of the events on the characters to sink in, or let the power struggles really develop.

Then again I also thought it should have been a There Will Be Blood-style character portrait of Jesse Eisenberg as he alienates everyone by being a socially awkward genius asshole badass.

The Social Network had great dialogue, great acting, and great music. It told a modern story that was worth telling and I thought it was one of the best releases of 2010.

I don't disagree with none of this yet boring story is still boring.

Yeah but dude, world's youngest billionaire. Pretty unique story as far as they go, and told in an excellent way that keeps you hooked. As ever, Ebert explains it best -

No. Just no, Zad. World's youngest billionaire is just like any other billionare plus a snarky attitude. Not a great story.

Plus, you know, being young. I think he's an interesting character, and Eisenberg played him well, considering I hadn't really rated him before. Could it just be an anti-capitalist thing, you and Kath not finding the story interesting?

If it was anyone else other than Fincher who made this film it would have been a disaster. He has a talent of making statues out of crap. One of the best directors of our time, no doubt.

Not disagreeing there, by any means. Aaron Sorkin's screenplay was great too, as was the acting.

Don't listen to him. Winter's Bone is really good. The story was interesting, but it's more about what a harrowing portrait of American poverty it is.

Also, The Social Network is really good...I'm sensing some contrarianism here. I won't say it was the best movie ever, but at the very least it was pretty interesting and had great dialogue and acting.

I liked him in Zombieland. Maybe I read him as bratty where you read him as intriguing. Not a big deal.
