Intend to try this, sort of liking a couple of tracks before but being turned off by the annoying vocals. Even at their best, can't see the fuss that's made.

Just checked out Limb for Limb on youtube. Not bad, but left me very confused.... Village People? lol

Well since everyone is making a big stink about this I'll go check it out and see if I like it or not.

I wouldn't say that 3 people is "a lot". Trapt, Legacy of the Night, and the canadian guy who dress like an Indie girl, can't remember his nickname.

I read this somewhere "The dude from Protest The Hero, my dick becomes inverted and I grow a vagina every time I hear him."

C'est la vie is a good song though.

Great review. I also enjoy Fortress a little more mainly because of it's better balance between technicality and songwriting.

Great review, Kyle! I feel almost exactly the same way you do. The one difference would be that I might score it a little lower (85-88). I really do miss the epic feel that Fortress had and the incredible catchy hooks that were on the previous two albums. Overall, I can tell this is a good album and I need to listen to it more, I just haven't fallen in love with it like I did the first two.

Oh, and I'm seeing them live in a few weeks! The first time I saw them they played a fairly short set. This time they are headlining. I'm hoping for a decent mix of all three albums.

'Tis good, I was expecting metalcore based on who liked them, but was surprised to hear a lot of dream theatre style prog.

This album is the bee's knees. Sooooo good. I'm kinda perturbed that it's going to fuck up my brutal last.fm counts but it's worth it. Been listening to it non-stop for the last month.

My issues with it, as compared to Fortress, it lacks the epic breakdowns and harsh vocals which I really enjoyed. However, how catchy this album is, how complex each song is, how damn fun this album is all work together to make it easily one of the best albums of this year. And I know that because it's better than most albums that have come out the last two years. Sex Tapes, Hair-Trigger, Tongue Splitter, Termites... every song on this album is really good, considering that C'est la Vie is the track which I care the least for.

I feel like this album deserves at least two if not three listens before you delete off your hard drive. The first listen I was underwhelmed and it's only gotten better since that second time I clicked play. Fuck, I'm listening to it now because I'm typing this.

THING WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

See, I think quite a wide variety of us like them. A great band no doubt.
