Just thought I'd start a thread about it because it's so damn good. They p much went all out with the stuff I love about their music and got rid of almost everything I disliked.

Rody's voice man, his voice.

Fucking incredible. It's really all I've been listening to the last two weeks barring the new Trap Them album. So great. The songwriting has improved, the riffs are just as solid as always, and the breaks could be more intense but it's no big loss they're still quality.

I didn't love the album till I listened to it in the car and was screaming along with it. It's just so damn good.

idk you strike me as the type who wouldn't like the metalcorey parts of their sound and they've cut back on that stuff even more, and gotten better at pretty much everything else.

Not sure if that is true. I love Kezia and Fortress. The songwriting is amazing and each album has moments that just leave me speechless. Fortress, especially the first half, was so damn epic. I'm just afraid this album will be good, but missing that special something that really made Kezia and Fortress what they were. It's hard to do that three albums in a row.

I feel like love for this album grew after several listens. It lacks the huge hits like Sequoia or Bloodmeat.

It doesn't have any songs as catchy as Bloodmeat, but Bloodmeat is also the only song they've written with a chorus. I think the last minute or so of Dunsel is as huge or huger than anything they've written, and there's just as many parts that make me want to sing along as on their first two.

So far the only songs that haven't revealed themselves to me as really really awesome are "Moonlight" and "The Reign of Unending Terror", but even those songs have stuff I like a lot.

I love the games the lyrics play with rhyming eg at the end of "Tongue-Splitter" he says:

'cause everybody thinks it's timeless
well time's running out
well then I never even (??? not sure what he actually says here)
'cause I never shut my face"

I expect him to sing "mouth" but instead he screams "face". And in Hair-Trigger he sings:

"I wrote her goddamn love songs
to praise everything I hate
and kids were ___(?) the chorus line
and they sealed my ..."

I expect to hear "fate", but then he says "my picture's frame" instead.

Eeeeeeek. Maybe I will just download this now...is it coming out on vinyl?

C'est La Vie is still the only song I've heard, but it's literally the best metal song I've heard in a loooooooooooong time.

I heard it to keep up to date with you kids. Not bad, not quite the best metal song I've heard in a loooooooooooong time though.

I'm not a big fan of PTH, but one have to admit that c'est la vie is well crafted song, and the has vocalist improved a LOT.

I'm kinda worried because I don't foresee myself not listening to this 24/7. It's really all I've been playing.

Yeah another favourite band of mine needs to hurry up and release an album because it's all I want to listen to, but I also try not to listen to an album more than once in a day.

I just went ahead and dl'ed it...vinyl preorder isn't available for the US, anyways. Aaaaaand it's so fucking awesome. PTH is definitely my favorite band making metal right now, and I would more objectively say that they're the best band making metal on the "light" side of things, i.e. not death, black, or extreme metal in general. Really, who else is there? Slough Feg? PTH is a clear #1 for me.

"Light"? Dillinger, Kylesa, Devin Townsend, Cynic and.....I'm spent.

Devin Townsend is the only one out of those who is clearly not in the "extreme" side of things...the others, I dunno. Cynic may be "prog", but they've still got the harsh vocals and in terms of their approach to music, it's definitely more "dark" and complex than PTH's. Same thing goes for TDEP. Kylesa is a great band and definitely more riff-oriented than the others, so I can agree with that, but are they really better? To me, PTH is sort of a torch-bearer for the spirit of fun 80's heavy metal, even if the music is pretty different.

Can't wait for someone to tell me I'm an idiot
