Her voice... holy shit, talk about over-singing. She jumped around so much that someone unfamiliar with the anthem would have no idea what it sounds like. Don't really care that she screwed up one word though.

What gets me is how he's (claimed to have) adopted a local accent in so short a time. I'd have thought you have to live in a country for quite a few years before picking up a local accent - my beautiful purist southern English is slowly gaining a mild northern tint, but I've been living in Manchester for over fifteen years. I imagine it'd take even longer to change if I, say, moved to Texas.

I've explained this. You had your own, home, regional accent. I never had that. I wasn't raised in a single language group, let alone somewhere with a defined English variant. Picking up accents comes quite easily to me, and I assure you that I know sound distinctly doric.

I was noticing that I picked up English emphasis on certain words after only being there for two weeks. Not a full blown accent but just talking to people all day you pick it up. It's also a bigger change from American to English than Northern English to Southern English. Not sure of the technical linguistic names for the business.

I'd be in favour of switching the anthem to Scots Wha Hae, but for now, the Flower is absolutely brilliant.

Scots Wha Hae would be better, pretty sure there were plans to actually have that as the anthem but it came to nowt. I'll no doubt end up back up there at somepoint gigging ha ha.
