In comparison to what came after maybe. But I still find it hard to call Orchid mediocre.

I'd say similar things about Akercocke. It was by no means bad albums but not even the same style they would do later. I'd still say they were heads above other bands in the blackened death genre.

I find it prett easy, tbh. I just can't get into it that much.

Strangely I actually prefer Orchid and Morningrise to the rest of their discography.I don't have a problem with their latter stuff, but the somewhat rough production and pointless meandering of their first two clicks with me for some reason.

Can totally understand someone not digging though.

...and Oceans, I'd say started out rather shoddily. Their sophomore album improved upon it so vastly that their debut pales in comparison.

Rush's first six years of existence were mediocre at best, and that is being kind.

For the uninformed, they started in '68 and were rejected by every label for years until Donna Halper began playing Working Man in Cleveland when the first album was still being issued by Ray Daniels' Moon Records.

Still haven't gotten hold of Monumental Possession, or are you talking about the debut?

Yeah, Kronet - decent, but hardly amazing. MP is good blackthrash, but they really took off on Satanic Art imo.

I prefer Kronet Til Konge to everything else they've done.

Edge of Sanity.

Debut Nothing But Death Remains had moments but was rough overall and quite generic too.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Kyuss.

Prong were a much better Metal band than they were a hardcore band.

All wrong.
Scream Bloody Gore is the best.
Even if you are of the mind that all of Chuck's subsequent output is better than SBG (I can understand this mode of thinking, though I disagree with it), calling it mediocre is, to be blunt, fucking retarded.

Everything he did after Human is worthless, Symbolic has it's moments but that tech nonsense is absolutely nauseating.
